Round 1: S N R D M O I A E

Alan: MARINES (7)
Clive: RANDOMS (7)
DC: RANDOMISE (18)
OT: ROMANISED (18)
Score: 7–7 (max 18)

Sevens all round from our champion and challenger

Image

Over in DC they get to steal the show with the old Countdown favourite Randomise........but then again so does our recap writer !

Image

Now this is how you steal the show just like Freddie Mercury and his band Queen did at Live Aid in 1985

Round 2: N S W I A U D L I

Alan: WAILS (5)
Clive: WANDS (5)
DC: SUNDIAL (7) INDUSIAL (8)
OT: WINDSAIL (8)
Score: 12–12 (max 26)

Fives all round in this evenly matched contest............but over in DC they get to shine with their 8 Indusial

Round 3: 25, 2, 9, 6, 3, 8. Target: 182.

C1: 183.
C2: 182. 8 × 25 − 3 × 6 (10)
Score: 12–22 (max 36)

Nice and straightforward..........not too taxing..........this puts our challenger 10 points ahead

Image

Teatime teaser: REBURPED -> PUREBRED

Round 4: N T P U A O S B U

Alan: BOAST (5)
Clive: abound
DC: PANTS (5) TUNAS (5)
OT: OUTSPAN (7) TUPUNAS (7)
Score: 17–22 (max 43)

Our champion has plenty to boast about as that is his 5 that reduces the arrears to 5 points............as Susie disallows Clive's word as there is no D in this selection............but there were a couple of sevens missed by all........my spot was Outspan

Image

Round 5: G M S Q O E U E B

Alan: GOES (4)
Clive: MOSQUE (6)
DC: BEMUSE (6) GUMBOS (6) BEGUMS (6)
Score: 17–28 (max 49)

Not the best selection of letters but our challenger did well to get a 6 out of it.........this gives him an 11 point lead

Image

Round 6: 50, 4, 9, 5, 3, 6. Target: 113.

C1: 113. (5 − 3) × 50 + 9 + 4 (10)
C2: 113. 6 ÷ 3 × 50 + 9 + 4 (10)

Piss easy numbers solve this..........counting sheep is more fun .......if you look closely enough there is a LNAFP

Another fantastic round from our challenger Clive with his seven that puts him 18 points ahead our champion Alan.........with everything left to play for

Image

Round 9: 75, 100, 3, 4, 9, 8. Target: 939.

C1: 939. (100 + 4) × 9 + 3 (10)
C2: 938.
Score: 45–53 (max 84)

Another fine solve from our champion Alan that puts him with in 8 points of our challenger Clive.............will our champion get himself back into this contest ?

Teatime teaser: TIDYLIFE -> FIDELITY

Round 10: T D F E A I P S M

Alan: pastied
Clive: STAMPED (7)
DC: DAMPEST (7)
OT: MISDATE (7) PASTIME (7)
Score: 45–60 (max 91)

Sadly Susie has to disallow Alan's 7 Pastied as it is Invalid..................but Clive takes a 15 point lead over our champion Alan with everything to play for.........again nothing worth arguing over !

ImageImage

Round 11: T R V L S C E I U

Alan: CURVIEST (8)
Clive: CURVES (6)
DC: RIVULETS (8)
OT: CULVERTS (8) CURLIEST (8) UTRICLES (8)
Score: 53–60 (max 99)

Is another twist to this contest as our champion Alan hits back with his fantatstic eight that puts him with in 7 points of our challenger Clive...............winning another round would be interesting but only that it would blow it wide open

Round 12: T H R O I O C N E

Alan: HOOTER (6)
Clive: CORONET (7)
DC: NOTCHIER (8)
Score: 53–67 (max 107)

A good round from our challenger Clive with his 7 Coronet..........but over in DC they get to show off with their 8 Notchier.........but with 14 points being the difference........... is there one final push for our champion Alan to get himself back into this contest ?

Image

Round 13: S L R D S D I E A

Alan: RIDDLES (7)
Clive: SADDLERS (8)
DC: SADDLERS (8)
Score: 53–75 (max 115)

Sadly not with Clive's eight this can only mean one thing that he is our new champion..........but sadly for our outgoing champion Alan it is game over

Round 14: 100, 5, 3, 10, 3, 5. Target: 244.

C1: 245. 10 ÷ 5 × 100 + 3 × 3 × 5 (7)
C2: 243. Mistake in working.
RR: 244. (5 × 10 − (5 − 3)) × 3 + 100 (10)
Score: 60–75 (max 125)

Our our outgoing champion Alan the last laugh with his one away solve, our newest champion Clive misses but the damage is minor..........Ms Riley showcases her number skills and gets to shine..........but there was an LNAFP solve by our recap writer

Round 15: R I N S E G O W N

C2 buzzes on 9.75 seconds to say WORSENING which is correct.
Final Score: 60–85 (max 135)

We have a new champion in Clive Surplice firstly congratulations to him on his first win and becoming the newest member of the teapot club, secondly take nothing away from our outgoing champion Alan he will be happy with his 4 wins and the teapot..........but the question is will they be enough for the series 91 finals ? You can join me for the next recap and to see if Clive can get hise second win.........in the meantime it is bye for now
