No beaters for me yet, but I (and anyone else watching last night's COOT games) must surely have been willing the last vowel of Round 3 to be an E.

Also it'll be pretty dismal if Carol can't work out that numbers trick. If you know your birth year and the current year then yep, you really can work out your age! Who knew?

It worked for me today :) . The number I was thinking of was 8 and I ended up with 816 with the last two numbers being my actual age of 16 :D . I was well impressed

Now now, you also need to know whether you've had your birthday this year yet or not ;)

Was half expecting him to take a bit longer on that last C/V selection in the STEALING round, given he knew what vowel he'd get :P

And it is not like she is getting difficult numbers games! But I do agree that she seems like a nice lady. You've gotta give her that :D

Is 30 points the lowest champion score in the 15 round era of all time? It must be...surely? :D

Damn you're all too quick. I was gonna post ARTERIAL and the CV beater in round 14. I also can not believe Carol didn't understand the algebra trick for the year etc. I used that exact trick on my year 8s the other month (except the starting number was how many days a week do you eat chocolate, between 1 and 7 -- anything will work as long as it's less than 10 and my example will force it to be less than 10).

As for DoD beating her to 0, I did quite well, beating her 115-13, but doing that in the studio is different as we all know I'm a bottler.

P.s HEREIN was a nice 6 in round 1.

I did (9+5+5-6)x75+1=976

Also the initial number needn't be less than 10, as you just get a 4-digit answer, and you just take the first two. (You do need to be aged less than 100, though. :D )

Almost certainly. And I guess 88 is the lowest total for anyone over two games. Still, she gets one day as #8 seed before she gets passed by Chris Davies tomorrow.

I was meant to catch this algebra trick on Channel 4+1 after missing it first time around but I forgot to watch it.

What is the trick you use Kirk and does anyone remember what the conundrum was, as I missed that as well

There's at least one less. In her opening game, Heather Culpin managed to keep her opponent down to 29. See here.

Carol did seem to go round the houses a bit in explaining Rick's "trick". Was it really necessary for her to explain that 1758 is 2008 - 250, and so when you add 1758 to 250 what you're doing is 250 + 2008 - 250, so the 250s cancel, leaving 2008? Surely simply adding 250 and 1758 to give 2008 would have been a simpler approach. But maybe there were a few minutes spare and she was asked to pad it out a bit.

As for the conundrum, Joseph, it was THYGLOOMY.

Yeah, I thought that about the audition too Matt, nice lady but I'm amazed she passed.

I also noticed, I think in the round where she declared LANCING but was beaten by the 8, Susie never mentioned that she'd used the N twice which she normally would do.

Thank you Howard :). It seems I didn't miss much :D.

After having words this week like RECTUMS, SCROTUM and GENITALS I am hoping that one day, the word SPHINCTER will be used for a conundrum

I was extremely dozy when watching Thursday's show - first I went for YARNERS in round 7, which is patently bollocks, then in round 9 I got TAXONOMY, and didn't realize till I loaded up CountMax after the show, that there was no Y   Damian's going to crush me in the COOT final...

But yes I think declaring nothing on 6 consecutive numbers rounds must be an all-time record...
