Spoilers For Monday May 10th 2010
Well, with the football season heading towards an interesting climax (for me at least), Countdown is now starting to enter the home straight, with just a month to go to the start of the finals.
4 people have booked their places, so far.
*Oliver Garner, still the only octochamp of Series 62.
*Dave Wilkinson, just pipped to the post in his attempt of octochampdom.
*Peter Zyss, knocked out by (Claudia) Tyson on his 8th show.
*and Craig Chittenden, the new "Human Calculator".
Our current champ is Lee Graham, who will be in the finals, with a win today.
Back in DC for his 2nd stint is GMTV doctor and part-time ice dancer Dr. Hilary Jones.
Will Lee book his place in the finals
Find out with Lord Corby of Trouser Press later on.

HACKERY was there for round 1.
TOPLINER wasn't, however for round 4.

Wow. Did not expect that comeback at all. Lee took it well, if that had happened to me I would have been furious, it's bad enough when you lose on apterous from what looks like a winning position, but on the show, damn. Great contestant, hope he is in the finals.

That was probably one of the most surprising comebacks of all time
Bit of a shame Lee lost, but on the plus side, another Robinson has won on the show.
3rd Numbers Alt: (25 x 8) - (6 x 3) - 5 = 177
TRAIPSES in round 9 too.

What a good show today - a nicely tense conundrum at the end of a good comeback.
Randomly: was it Hilary Jones who did a load of 'mistaken identity' stories last time, or someone who looked very like him? I liked Rachel's dress, though my musing as to whether it was really curtain material was encouraged by the distinct pelmet. (I still liked the dress, despite the soft furnishings thoughts.) And, for the first tea-time teaser, C.I.D. isn't an acronym, is it?

Isn't it short for Criminal Investigation Department, or something. Which I believe is the brief for an acronym.Brian Moore wrote:And, for the first tea-time teaser, C.I.D. isn't an acronym, is it?

I thought an acronym had to be pronounceable as a word, e.g. UNESCO or AIDS, whereas C.I.D. is an abbreviation.James Robinson wrote:Isn't it short for Criminal Investigation Department, or something. Re: Spoilers For Monday May 10th 2010
Though I realise that the OED is a far less reliable source of information than Wikipedia, its entry simply states: "A word formed from the initial letters of other words." I wonder, has the World Health Organisation ever been pronounced 'who'?, and if not, is it still an acronym? Oh dear ... I fear we might be two halves of a sandwich territory here.James Robinson wrote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acronym_and_initialism

What about him? Is he our new unelected Prime Minister, or something? I'm losing interest now.Ryan Taylor wrote:What about El Cid?
BTW, did acronyms exist before there was a name for them (c.1943)?

Is this because the comeback was by a more mature lady against a younger man?James Robinson wrote:That was probably one of the most surprising comebacks of all time
