Pretty simple once you spot the trick:
(50 / 2) * 25 = 625; 625 - 75 - 4 - 2 = 544

I'm puzzled that, in the talk about the (nick)name Titch, there was no mention of the character in a series of children's storybooks by Pat Hutchins. Surely this is where a fair number of people know the name from?
