Nigel: LANCER (6)
Tony: CLONE (5)
DC: LONICERA (8)
OT: CABRIOLE (8) COLINEAR (8)
Score: 12–0 (max 15)
Another good round for our champion Nigel with his 6 Lancer.........but our challenger Tony is all at sea with his 5 Clone............but over in DC they get to shine with old Countdown favourite Lonicera whcih was my spot too

Round 3: 50, 2, 10, 3, 1, 7. Target: 451.

Round 4: N L T A E A R S N
Nigel: LANTERNS (8)
Tony: NEARS (5)
DC: ARSENAL (7) LANTERNS (8)
Score: 30–10 (max 33)
A great eight from our champion Nigel with Lanterns which was the spot from DC and our recap writer.............but for fun Susie spots a seven related to her favourite football club Arsenal !

Argubaly one of the best Premier League managers Arsene Wenger managed Arsenal from 1996 to 2018 , during his reign as Arsenal's manager he won an amazing 3 Premier League titles 2003/04 the most well known season for the club they went undefeated for the whole season earning the nickname the invincibles the only Premier League team to have done so. During his tenure and the 1997/98 Arsenal achieved the double an FA cup and a premier league title, 6 more FA cup wins followed.

Even though I am a Manchester United fan ! my all time favourite player is Arsenal legend aka the non flying Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp made an amazing 315 appearances for the club scoring 87 goals for them, he retired from international football in 2000 to focus on his club career. After a glittering career as a player for clubs such as Ajax Inter Milan and Arsenal he hung up his football boots in 2006.

Arsene Wenger is well known for his rivalry with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson; beginning in 1997, the dispute reached its culmination in the "Pizzagate" incident at Old Trafford in October 2004. After Manchester United ended Arsenal's 49-game unbeaten Premier League ended abruptly after Manchester United were awarded a last minute penalty.......... a war of words followed after Wenger labelled Ruud Van Nistlerooy a cheat and called the referee a liar, since their retirements they have remained good friends despite their fierce rivalry.
Round 5: V D I U S K I S O
Nigel: vidious
Tony: VOIDS (5)
DC: SKIDS (5)
OT: DISKS (5) DIVIS (5) DUSKS (5) KUDOS (5) SOUKS (5) SUKIS (5)
Score: 30–15 (max 38)
Not the best round for our champion Nigel having his seven disallowed by Susie...........the damage is minor as he is in the lead by 15 points.........quite a few fives to be had........again nothing worth arguing over ! No comment neither !

Round 6: 75, 25, 1, 9, 4, 6. Target: 385.
C1: 385. (75 + 25) × 4 − 9 − 6 (10)
C2: -
Score: 40–15 (max 48)
Another good round from Nigel that bags him 10 points.........but I found a different way of getting there

75+9=84
84+6=90
90*4=360
360+25=385
Round 7: M L E A W S E M H
Nigel: WHALES (6)
Tony: MEALS (5)
DC: LEMMAS (6) WEASEL (6)
OT: HAMELS (6) MAMEES (6) WHEALS (6) WHEELS (6) WHELMS (6)
Score: 46–15 (max 54)
Sixes all round.........enough said

Nigel: CANOES (6)
Tony: CANONS (6)
DC: NOSEBAG (7) BEACONS (7)
OT: ANCONES (7) BOSCAGE (7) NANOBES (7) NONAGES (7)
Score: 52–21 (max 61)
Sixes all round from champion and challenger.............quite a few sevens to be had Beacons and Nosebag were my spot along with DC.............let's not have a fight about this !!!! so let's play nicely now !

Round 9: 2, 2, 9, 1, 1, 4. Target: 907.
C1: -
C2: -
RR: 324. (2 + 1) × (2 + 1) × 9 × 4 (0)
Score: 52–21 (max 61)
Not a cat in hell's chance when it comes to this numbers solve.................324 is the best you can do..........it is too far away and not good enough to score any points !

Teatime teaser: GLADRAGS -> LAGGARDS
Round 10: P T Y O E I M H G
Nigel: PITY (4)
Tony: MIGHTY (6)
DC: EIGHTY (6)
OT: MOIETY (6) MYTHOI (6)
Score: 52–27 (max 67)
Not the best selection of letters.........but our challenger does well to get a six out of it as DC and our recap writer.................so let's move forward and jump to the next round

Round 11: M R E U P R E T G
Nigel: PERTER (6)
Tony: trumper
DC: PURGER (6) TEMPER (6)
OT: PERMUTE (7) PRETERM (7)
Score: 58–27 (max 74)
Here is the next round..............our champion gets to score with his 6 Perter...........sadly our challenger doesn't score with his 7 trumper falling foul of that trap again..........a couple more sixes were spotted by DC.............but our recap writer gets to shine yet again with her 7 Permute.........sorry Susie I am after your job !
Round 12: Q N D O E U L T E
Nigel: QUOTED (6)
Tony: QUEEN (5)
DC: TOLUENE (7)
OT: ELOQUENT (8)
Score: 64–27 (max 82)
Our champion gets to shine with his six Quoted.............over in DC they get to show off with their seven the old Countdown favourite Toluene............but there was one eight missed by all with Eloquent!

Round 13: U A S L T E I W N
Nigel: SILENT (6)
Tony: unwaste *NOTE: Turner was not asked to spell his word in Round 13 – therefore, he may have intended unwaist ☓ rather than unwaste ☓.
DC: INSULATE (8)
Score: 70–27 (max 90)
Our champion has nothing to say with his 6 Silent............sadly it is not Tony's day as Susie disallows his 7...............over in DC they get to shine with their eight Insulate as does our recap writer !

Round 14: 50, 25, 8, 4, 2, 5. Target: 670.
C1: 670. (50 + 25 − 8) × 5 × 2 (10)
C2: -
Score: 80–27 (max 100)
Nice and straightforward not too taxing !
Round 15: L E G A L M I N D
No one buzzes. The answer was MEDALLING.
Final Score: 80–27 (max 110)
Neither contestant guesses the conundrum in this rather low scoring max game but it is left to our recap writer to solve it, firstly congratulations to Nigel for another fine win secondly take nothing away from Tony who gave as good as he got, he enjoyed the experience overall he will satisfied with his goody bag.............you can join me again for the next recap to see how Nigel progresses.........in meantime it's a wrap !
