I thought at first it was going to be Betty White. But then you said this person played a child in a 1980s sitcom, so it can't be Betty as she would have been in her 60s then; so now I'm stumped.

No, it's her real self. Her name is Candace Cameron-Bure. She married Valeri Bure, a former Russian hockey player. She is a devout Chrisrian, very beautiful and very funny too.

Wikipedia, Internet Movie Database and tv.com all come up blank for UK showings, so you'll have to tell me what channel it was on and when, cos I'm pretty sure it's never been on over here. There was a completely unrelated ITV-made sitcom of the same name in the mid-1980s (prior to the American show starting), but that's about as close as it gets. Which isn't very close, what with it being a totally different show.

He did have some pet fireflies in St Elsewhere though; he was catching them in a jar, on the green in front of St Eligius Hospital, at the beginning of the episode where he got shot. That was a great episode. But then they were all great.

I remember it. Couldn't tell you what channel. Could have been RTE, but we tended to watch Uk channels a lot as RTE is pretty crap.

I've heard some people say that show should never have ben canceled.

In fact, Marg Helgenberger, one of the actresses now on CSI, appeared on that show also. She's a funny lady!
