Annoyingly i had no network at all in switzerland but finally i do! So if you wanna tune in and see me get ripped then feel free. BBC one, 17:15 - 18:00, thursday 8th april.

Nice one Ryan! When it was down to three and the evil woman voted for you, I thought it would be all over, but the nice Scottish bird played it honest. Good on her.
I wasn't paying the utmost attention all the way through (sorry) but did you get anything wrong at all before the final round? Well impressive, anyway.

The look on your face when Ann said "Which 1916 Siberian..." but you pulled through. I also didn't think you'd get the last one right. Well played, as said the best man won, or (paper) boy.

I thought that too. Maybe it was her accent, but if your accent means that you pronounce all vowels the same, they should at least ask for clarification rather than assume you've got it right. You could take that to its logical conclusions, and pronounce every possible answer to every possible question the same.Kirk Bevins wrote:Awesome! Nice one Ryan and well kept quiet. Awesome stuff, Ryan. In the final voting round when the first woman voted for you I thought "oh well, here we go", but then the second one didn't and you got through, I was pretty surprised.
Good banter too, your 'only on the Internet' reply was brilliant.
It's interesting watching TWL only once every few months, I totally think they've made the final round (as in, pre-head-to-head) questions much easier, although the massive fluctuation in difficulty within rounds seems to be something they're never going to get rid of.

Awesomesauce Ryan, total respect for not playing possum in the later rounds when you were clearly making yourself a target for tactical voting, and likewise to the woman standing next to you for playing fair. You got a bunch of questions right that I had no idea on.

Well done Ryan, and a very entertaining watch. I particularly liked the way you raised your eyebrows whenever Anne called you "little Ryan". And I assume you were looking at the clock when you kept glancing to the left towards the end of several of the rounds?

I think it's pretty well known how Scots people pronounce their vowels, and A and E don't really sound the same. It's enough to fool us Sassenachs, of course...Gavin Chipper wrote:I thought that too. Just finished watching it, Ryan. Awesome performance. Excellent general knowledge and very quickly and confidently answered. Nice repartee with Anne, too. She seemed to like you. Maybe she's got a thing about red haired paperboys.

Re: Ryan Taylor on the weakest link 8th april
Hello I am back from my night out celebrating and I managed to spend £100 bearing in mind that each drink is £1 (yes I went a bit OTT with buying people drinks) and that is with winning £10 at the casino. Thank you guys for watching! And some questions or things to clear up which obviously go unnoticed on the show.. Firstly RE Kirk, yes I should have got some of the questions right that I got wrong but under that pressure and in those circumstances it is very easy to lose focus. The dabber question in round 2 I didn't need to answer, let alone giving the answer of "cribbage". I also knew the Shirley Maclaine/Warren Beatty thing as I'd read it in an old edition of Trivial Pursuit cards and had it been an ordinary pub quiz I would have been able to think it through. RE Mike, yes there is a clock and money chart to the left so you see my eyes wandering to that place every now and again. Anne definitely had a thing for me, I kept winking at her between the rounds and smiling and she remained straight faced but only because she had to! Going into the last four contestants, I was the strongest link and before the show you have about 3 hours talking to fellow contestants...and me and Alan were quite pally (he was a funny chap) so I was thinking "If I remain strongest link and then vote for who I think Alan will vote for, I will at the minimum get a casting vote on a woman or Alan and then vote off the woman so me and Alan stay together for the final". However Alan played a poor round and Kerry was strongest so it would look unfair for me to vote Kerry...so I had to vote Alan. What is also not seen is that Julie and Kerry were both smokers and went on a fag break at least three times together, so I simply HAD to stop them from being in the final three, but this was not meant to be. In between every round there is about a 5 minute break (which gets less each time) and I used these breaks to keep in full contact with Julie and keep her pally with me and on my side despite her initial connection with Kerry. In the end this paid off and we stuck together and voted off Kerry. In the final round RE: the question about "A" or "E" some of this was cut...Anne initially said "the correct answer is "A"" so obviously at this point I thought I had won, but then the producers told Anne she did in fact say "A" which pissed me off a little. Thankfully as soon as I heard the name "Yul Brynner" associated with the word "western" I linked the only thing I knew and that is "The Magnificent Seven" as a quizzer I have never watched this film at all, only ever read quiz questions such as name of film and cast list, the actual film quote was completely pointless and I didn't consider it at all. Anyway, on the whole, I was pretty lucky and got questions which I knew, there were questions in every round that I didn't know the answer to but fortunately they fell to the hands of someone else. And it was cool to hear my mates answering the questions I didn't know at the pub which is what I like about general knowledge, like the "Game of Life" question...NEVER heard of it!! Anyway it is now 6am and I should really get some sleep, cheers for watching.

Yeah it is strange how you pay attention to certain parts of questions and on this particular case I had discarded the names of these hops and then clung onto the "climbing plant" part and completely not listened to "used in beer" which left me thinking "is it ivy or wisteria" LMAO!!James Robinson wrote:Very well done, Ryan. Well done Ryan! Only got about halfway through on iPlayer last night because my internet connection was being a dick, and I couldn't stand the suspense so I came in to check! How much did you win? And how many drinks are you going to buy me at Co:Lon?
Will watch the rest tonight. Was Julie the psychiatric nurse? Annabel seemed like a good laugh btw.

Nice one Ryan!
As for A and E - certainly round these parts, my A and E often get confused (especially when spelling my name), and I do find that a Scots A can sound quite close to E, it's often like 'E flat' if you will rather than EEEE.

Surely sarcasm? She forever asked questions in the green room beforehand and annoyed us all. We had to keep retaking the voting process because she kept getting it wrong (so did Ian). She then nearly made me miss my train home because she was so disappointed in being voted off that she is visibly crying when she does her interview at the end. It took her about 30 minutes to do this interview because she was so distraught causing a lag for everyone else to do theirs. It was funny when Neil said she seemed "confused" everyone laughed but her. Brilliant!Jon Corby wrote:Annabel seemed like a good laugh btw.

Got around to watching this last night. Brilliant win, Ryan!
That's my boy!
Dinos was as good in his TWL, but unfortunately fell foul of tactical voting. Well done on keeping in with the other contestants to try to avoid this, although Dinos is a very affable chap, so probably did too.

I think if I were ever on a quiz show, that I might have problems with this sort of thing too. Playing along at home, I usually watch with the subtitles on which helps cut down on ambiguity. Not possible to have subtitles if watching on 'catch up' though as I did this.Jon Corby wrote:Early on someone (I think it was Steve?) was confused by the question "[...something in insurance etc...] is called wear and what?" because he was obviously interpreting it as "where and what?" Re: Ryan Taylor on the weakest link 8th april
I would like to take back a statement I made before in response to Matt Morrison. I did see you on The Weakest Link, Ryan. Your episode was uploaded a week late. I must say, congratulations, BUT, I've seen other teams perform better.
Now I know that the team did not form an alliance when you and that Julie lady remained in the final round. Why would they? Because you and Julie were the last two contestants introduced.
The fact that you were even on came out of nowhere, and frankly I had no idea until Matt even mentioned it. I'm not sure how long they've taped in Scotland, but Ryan, I hope it wasn't a long wait for you and I can how the wait was well worth it for you.
Finally, I am glad that Anne realizes her "act" has gotten old. It was ok when The Weakest Link first came on, but now it's not. Did she agree to be the host of Watchdog because she was mean 10 years ago? I don't know, but Ryan, you should be thankful that she's a journalist and she has never been a comedian.
Now, stay tuned, because all of you will see another former Countdown champion on The Weakest Link soon (Hint: When you go to his hospital, he'll give you a shot that won't hurt a bit.)
Happy guessing, and Ryan, I hope you spend the rest of your money wisely.
