Series 62
Who's thinking of applying for series 62? Who do you want to apply for series 62? What rumours are in the air about DC guests? I'm weeing myself thinking about it all now.
I personally can't wait to see how Oliver Garn-dogg got on. Great on both the letters and numbers, I reckon he's a potential series champ.

Sweet and honey have a sugary connection, and a ness and trousers are both items of clothing, so it fitted together quite nicely. 'Sweetness. When's your audition?' = 'That sounds great. When's your audition?'
'Sweetness, when's your audition?' = 'I'm gay and I fancy you. I don't even care about your audition, I'm just being polite'

If I suddenly have a squirming baby on my lap it probably means that I should start paying it some attention and stop wasting my time messing around on a Countdown forum

I didn't think people applied for a particular series. I thought they applied, waited for an audition and then if they pass then wait to go on. Could take weeks, months or years. Is this not the case then?Ben Hunter wrote:Who's thinking of applying for series 62?

It certainly was for me - I sent in my application in about June, and the week before the whole Carol debacle happened. I got a call and audition the following March, then filmed in October and it was finally screened in November. That's probably unusual though. Re: Series 62
My sense is that these days Lesley's experience is as untypical as it could be. I suspect that a good proportion of series 61 contestants fitted the whole thing, from application to screening, into the gap between Lesley's audition and recording. So I can see why there's an assumption that "applying now" means series 62.Lesley Hines wrote:It certainly was for me - I sent in my application in about June, and the week before the whole Carol debacle happened. I certainly think it's unwise to apply unless you're prepared to record within a few weeks. If in doubt why not call the team for advice?

I bet I would just chug along to Europe in this economy.
Rumor has it that the economy will not improve until 2020.
Sadly, Barack Obama will not be President by then.

Applied January, audition February, recording April, broadcast June. But as that was in 2001 it'll be of no relevance. Waste of a post really. Bye.

Awesome, you applied after I did, got an audition before me and was on five months earlier.David Roe wrote:Applied January, audition February, recording April, broadcast June. But as that was in 2001 it'll be of no relevance. Waste of a post really. Bye.
Then again, iirc Tom Hargreaves applied sometime mid-2000 and only debuted on-screen on Boxing Day 2001.
Re: Series 62
Probably because I'm based in East Lancs so had my audition at the studios in Leeds. I dare say they had more auditions there than at any given site around the country.Ben Wilson wrote:Awesome, you applied after I did, got an audition before me and was on five months earlier.David Roe wrote:Applied January, audition February, recording April, broadcast June. I'm thinking of applying, but probably not until February, as I'll need to spend most of January flat-and-job-hunting, and relocating. I am moving to Manchester, though, so perhaps that will speed up the application/audition turnaround? I hope so.

Re: Series 62
Applied March 2007, audition November, filmed early December, screened late January 2008. Was told I'd been accepted by phone 2 days after the audition, and offered a place as an emergency contestant (because they'd had an octochamp and knew I was unemployed and thus available) that Friday, but it was too much to organise within the 2 days I had. So anyone applying now could easily be in series 63, so they might have to think of another way to meet Oliver or Jan.
