It could be a cucumber(or any other green thing) thats just been painted yellow or avocado paint

I think the key to this is using "green" in the sense of "environmentally friendly". So surely the answer is either some kind of environmentally-friendly yellow paint, or it's something/someone famous which is painted yellow, which is known for being environmentally sound. Like a speed camera on a motorway, to give a crap example, which in theory helps cut emissions by slowing vehicles to a speed where they get improved fuel economy.
