Spoilers for 13/05/2009

Post by Martin Gardner »

I thought it might be prudent not to put 'Jimmy Gough' in the title this time!
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Makes me feel even older now, having heard how old Stevie Wonder is today. And talk about his former title Little Stevie Wonder reminds me that that is what he was called when I saw him perform.

A greyhen is a female black grouse. It is game (as in for hunting), fowl, and miss (because it is female).

I was hoping Tony was also going to declare NIPPLE, thereby allowing Jeff to say "A pair of nipples over here... anything better in Dictionary Corner?"

thanks for that Adam - way more cryptic than most teatime teasers!

Thought that challenger was great value, shame to see him Goughed.

LEUCINE was there for 7 in round 11, though I'd have been hesitant to risk it competitively. Impressive display by the champion -- he's especially solid on the letters.

Enactor was a beater in one round.
Alt second numbers: ((50+2)*6+7+7)*3 Got it in the time, too.
Jimmy, with regards to the conundrums are you usually not great at them, or do you suffer from my phobia of thinking all your opponents are geniuses (genii, if you will), so you have to get in there asap?

The champion will cry tears of joy when he sees this.

Unlucky on not getting your third ton Jimmy, but the win is the main thing.

Bet you spotted the correct conundrum soon after you buzzed eh?

I didn't do too badly today (I "won") but I got the feeling that as on Monday (I didn't watch Tuesday's game) most of the letters rounds were fairly flat and it was quite easy to get the max* most times. I think with harder rounds I wouldn't have been able to keep up as well.

*The highest anyone on screen got anyway.

Oddly, it's the thing I think I practised the hardest and I'm usually pretty good at them, well, not shit anyway. I think it is a bit like you said - I'm so used to apterousers buzzing in so quickly and thought that would be the case on the show, idk.

SNAP.

I liked it how The challenger basically confessed to beating up youths at the end. He was a nice guy. Its a shame he and Jimmy had to cross paths.

Just got RETAKEN as a beater in R6. Not as good as Junaid, but still beat DC.

Another here for CLOSETED and CAROTENE

Surprised DC couldn't see past 6 in the CAROTENE round especially as Susie mentioned it in CoC IIRC.

Another solid win under the belt for Jimmy. Well in mate :)

Good stuff. A shame the challenger didn't get to win at least one game, as he was very good. Well done J.
