RR: Rachel Riley.
OT: Other words or solutions.

Score: 6–6 (max 6)

A flat round gives six points apiece to the Colley and the Russell.

Round 2: D N C E I E S T A

C1: STAINED (7)
C2: STAINED (7)
DC: ANDESITE (8)
OT: CINEASTE (8) DISTANCE (8)

Round 4: R L R A U E M T A

C1: AMULET (6)
C2: unreal
DC: AMATEUR (7)
OT: ARMATURE (8)
Score: 24–18 (max 29)

Dom has 'Brandreth fever' (see below) as he mistakes an M for an N (probably).

Round 5: 25, 2, 5, 1, 3, 6. Target: 610.

C1: 610. 25x6x(3+1)+5x2 (10)
C2: 610. 25x6x(3+1)+5x2 (10)
Score: 34–28 (max 39)

I couldn't bear to watch Gyles' part, sorry  Summat about Twitter though, I think.

Teatime teaser: LEGSHINS -> SHINGLES

Round 6: Q D R E A O S T A

C1: ROASTED (7)
C2: STORED (6)
DC: TORSADE (7)

Round 7: K N L E A I R N T

C1: RELIANT (7)
C2: TINKER (6)
DC: INTERNAL (8)
Score: 48–28 (max 54)

Nope, Howard, it's only ENTRAILS.

C1: BOILS (5)
C2: MILES (5)
DC: BLOGS (5) MOBILES (7)
OT: OBLIGEES (8)
Score: 53–33 (max 62)

Gyles makes a complete twit(ter) of himself by saying SNOGGABLE^ with 3 phantom letters and declared as an 8, but otherwise it's a word. OK, it isn't

Round 9: R D H A O E T T U

C1: THROATED (8)
C2: HOTTER (6)
DC: AUTHORED (8) (Jeff)
Score: 61–33 (max 70)

A debatable allowance from Susie as Jeff's masterclass shines through again.

OoW: It's bells and whistles today from the lovely Denticle.

Round 10: 75, 2, 6, 1, 2, 10. Target: 800.

C1: 800. (75+6-1)x10 (10)

Teatime teaser: RAPDISCO -> SPORADIC

Round 11: P N G O I O E P R

C1: ROPING (6)
C2: POOPING (7)
OT: GOOPIER (7) PIROGEN (7) PONGIER (7) POOPIER (7) REPPING (7)
Score: 71–50 (max 87)

POOPING is apparently a term referring to the 14th century Chinese emperor, Pu Ping.

Round 12: T W N I E I S R E

C1: WINTERS (7)
C2: WINTERS (7)
DC: ENTRIES (7)
OT: WINTERISE (18)
Score: 78–57 (max 105)

As Gyles points out, three legitimate words are spelt out in the selection; TWINE, IS and RE

Round 13: M S F A I A E X B

C1: MAFIAS (6)
C2: EXAMS (5)
OT: BAASIE (6) SAMFIE (6)
Score: 84–57 (max 111)

A good risk by Julie seals the game.

Round 14: 25, 50, 4, 6, 10, 3. Target: 176.

C1: 176. 50x3+25+(10-6)/4 (10)
C2: 176. 50x3+25+(6+4)/10 (10) (Sorry, thanks Howard for pointing out that 590x3 is not 150)
Score: 94–67 (max 121)

Round 15: L I M P I D O N G

C1 buzzes on 2 seconds to say IMPLODING which is correct.
Score: 104–67 (max 131)

So well fought from both contestants, but in the end Julie was just too good for Dominic. Can she Russell up any more wins? Find out soon.

Apologies for the overuse of mrgreens, I'm feeling a bit sick today (sick of Gyles Brandreth  ).

Perhaps an alternative name for Jimdic could be the Aptosaurus.

I've always used the term Apterist, but Apteroid is pretty cool.

Thanks for the recap Kai. :) I hadn't thought of the Colley v Russell battle!

Is there anyway of getting a recording of your own show sent to you by ITV Yorkshire/ the Countdown team? Or do you have to get it yourself from the TV/internet?

According to the subtitles, Gyles was actually trying "snogible" with only one phantom letter, and surely more as a "Jo Brand" word than a serious attempt? He did redeem himself (slightly!) with an instant spot of "mobiles" when he was told it was m not n.

Only because he had 'nobiles' as a backup word if 'snogible' wasn't valid.
