Is there a grand slam of these CO events? If so, has anyone held all of them at one time?
What would a CO event at Norwich be called?

It sure seems like there should be, if there's not one already.

And as well as having a tournament named after Mr. Travers, what would a tournament in London be called?Gevin-Gavin wrote:Is there a grand slam of these CO events? If so, has anyone held all of them at one time?

I'm all for COLIV in Liverpool, because it's the only one I could possibly attend without really going out of my way. Not that I'm very good competition, but it'd be nice to meet some of you lot

Does it always have to be named after the city in which it takes place?

Re: "What is COLIN?" and other questions
Of course not, but that is the convention. You could call it something else but as it's Countdown in Bristol, it seems good to call COBRIS, rather than CB or some other shortened name.

So, it depends on the ring it has to it.

An example of this would be COMANCH or COGLOU.

So yeah, you're doing exactly what we're doing. I thought your point was ask why we named it that way. The answer is "why not?"

Wow!
COLON, COBATH, we could go a lot of ways with that.

I've wanted a COLON for ages, but figure it's the cost that's the problem - I know a pub which we could rent out if we'd spend £750 at the bar...how are countdowners for alcoholism?

Are you all really going to London for a Countdown get-together?

No, Jason, we aren't - although it may happen eventually. I don't know why you've asked that, and as much fun as it's been posting why events are named COwhatever I think the discussion has run its course.Jason Larsen wrote:Are you all really going to London for a Countdown get-together?
Well CORED last year was in the SE area, although the wrong side of London for me so still over an hour by train/tube/train. Something less than 2+ hours away would be nice, but I'm not convinced the more Northern COntenders (see what I did there, ahaha) would trek to the London area for it. I believe Sandie Simonis suggested such an event a while back on the mailing list, but interest was muted.Michael Wallace wrote:I've wanted a COLON for ages, but figure it's the cost that's the problem - I know a pub which we could rent out if we'd spend £750 at the bar...how are countdowners for alcoholism?

Re: "What is COLIN?" and other questions
I like the train journey from Liverpool to Bristol, when going to the COBRIS events as we have to only change at one station there and back . Plus also I could meet up with Dave C, Kirk and Ben etc before getting to Bristol so I can get some practice in before playing etc. Also its nice to watch the day dawn and theres some nice scenery along the way too.Dan Vanniasingham wrote:Well CORED last year was in the SE area, although the wrong side of London for me so still over an hour by train/tube/train. EDIT: I do remember one time on the way home from a CO-Event where Dave, Kirk and I were going home and we got to Kirk's station and there was a drunkard who wouldn't get off the train, so the police had to come in, in the end to escort the person, which took about 15 minutes IIRC. I think Kirk waited on the platform just so he could get the train numbers.

No, I waited on the platform to see what happened with the drunk. The station concerned was Birmingham New Street.Joseph Bolas wrote: I think Kirk waited on the platform just so he could get the train numbers.

Re: Event names
I tried to organise a COLEE (Leeds) a couple of years ago but again I think only about three people signed up, so I cancelled it before it started.

If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?
