Spoilers for Friday 15th August 2025 - Series 92, Heat 35
First numbers - (25*10+10-9)*4-6 = 998
The teatime teaser shortwave appears not to be valid, nor was it when it was the conundrum in the CoC III semi-final between Harvey Freeman and John Clarke. Not sure if it was in 2020 though when it was also a TTT.
The champion geezer had a good couple of games, especially yesterday, so today was a big drop-off for him.

Surprised Rachel didn't get this. Fairly standard splitting the multiplication.
Yeah it's 2 words:Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 2:16 pm The teatime teaser shortwave appears not to be valid, nor was it when it was the conundrum in the CoC III semi-final between Harvey Freeman and John Clarke. Not sure if it was in 2020 though when it was also a TTT.

gorsiest as offered by DC does not appear to be valid either. No comparative/superlative specified for gorsy.

Good letters from Rob but Gill’s numbers won it for her: 24 points to 0.
The invalid teaser and DC answer suggests they need to absolutely double check they are supported by the British English section of Oxford Dictionaries Premium BEFORE they are set.
They should be ruled exactly the same way as they do with the contestants. This prevents discrepancies; for example, they disallowed Colin Murray’s suggestion of DONUT, but a month later they allowed it when a challenger declared it.
FTR, ‘shortwave’ is one word in the US English section of the dictionary and two words in the British English section.
They haven’t changed dictionary, have they? If they are using more than one dictionary, this is not a wise idea. They should only use one dictionary for the conundrums, teasers and all suggestions and answers.

what happened on the CURSIVE round, Colin was confused but didn't explain whether they both had it or not. I had CURVIEST!
I thought I was good at Countdown until I joined this forum

It was a joke. CURSIVE means joined-up handwriting. Rob was saying he wrote in block writing.Ian Fitzpatrick wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 9:13 am what happened on the CURSIVE round, Colin was confused but didn't explain whether they both had it or not. I had CURVIEST!

I did (25*10-(9-6))*4+10 = 998 but out of time
