Myself and Susie Dent were charged with the task of clearing a ridiculously overgrown (as in almost jungle-like) English country lane with a couple of weed whackers. She spent the entire time exploiting my insecurities and criticising me for EVERYTHING. It was honestly bullying.

Number one was very subtly and subliminally included in the above message. As for the rest of the list, it may or may not exist.Fred Mumford wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 12:19 pmYep, sounds like a perfectly normal thing to do.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:28 am I have a chart, the first column being a list of all the Autosport forumers and the second column being the probability of being Fred Mumford, and the top name begins with C.

Fair enough. Do you post there often enough that I should be able to work out who you are? (If not, then just tell me!)

I post oftenish on there and if my guess about you is correct, our paths have crossed. I thought I might have given away who I was in the coincidences thread about the 0.213 seconds thing, but maybe nothing I linked to indicated who I was.
But anyway it's not a particular secret so I won't obstruct any guessing game you choose to play.

If you aren't one of the people you linked to then I have no idea. That place must have thousands of active members. It would be much easier the other way round, discovering a Countdowner over there and having to work out who they are on here.

Shows how skilful I must have been to guess your identity (I'll assume I'm right as a working hypothesis). I frequent the crazy F1 stats reasonably often, if that helps.

Re: C4C/apto/Countdown Dreams
It does not. Everyone posts in that thread. And hardly any of it is crazy, often not F1, and occasionally not even a sodding statistic.
What you need to do is include some subtle clue in the next post you make over there, and if I can't pick up on it then I don't deserve to know. Or we could both agree some bizarre codeword that we both include at some random point in the middle of our next posts there, just to confuse everyone.
Or has all this just been a dream?

I think the dream hypothesis is quite a strong one considering where we are.
But assuming it isn't, I'll post something in the stats thread in the next few days as some sort of clue, and you can reply in a similar manner if you want.

I wonder if there is a Venn Diagram for Countdown ears who like formula 1
Also what did you think of F1 film Fred?

Haven't seen the film yet, and probably won't before it is shown on terrestrial TV. Being a pure fiction work I will probably give it more leeway for artistic licence than I did for Rush or Le Mans '66/Ford v Ferrari where the truth was sometimes ignored for no obvious entertainment benefit.

Re: C4C/apto/Countdown Dreams
In last night's dream I was putting the finishing touches on a 'man cave' in my house, which consisted of 3 octagonal rooms in a row. The left hand room was a study with various work stations in it including for some reason a haberdashery section. The middle room was a game room, in which Jen Steadman was busy playing a bunch of Evercade games. The right hand room was a bar, with a large aquarium on the far wall, and Mark Deeks was also there, possibly as the barman. At that point I work up.

If I had listed 10 suspects, you would probably have been on the list, but it was by no means obvious. You're obviously much better at this than I am.
I'm not completely convinced you really had that dream though!

The dream did happen! I'm genuinely curious as to who else might have made the shortlist, though worried I might find some insulting.

I suppose I would have considered members such as Risil, F1Frog, cpbell, gillesfan76, sennafan24, Blundle, JimmyClark, eab, NewMrMe on a shortlist. Bound to have forgotten a few others.
Hopefully nothing too offensive there, none of them are on my ignore list (an increasingly impressive achievement in itself).

Probably nothing too bad there, though quite a mix. Does sennafan24 even post these days?
Sterzo was on my shortlist for you at one point. Hope that's OK!

Good point re sennafan24, haven't seen him around much.
Sterzo is great, although he has been going to races since the 1950s so he was in no danger of being on my shortlist for you.

The idea was to bore everyone to sleep so that they could have more Countdown-related dreams.

The main question now is when are you coming to a CO-event? Edit - I met Meakin for the first time this year and it was insane.
Who is on your ignore list? I've never added anyone.Fred Mumford wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 1:58 pm I suppose I would have considered members such as Risil, F1Frog, cpbell, gillesfan76, sennafan24, Blundle, JimmyClark, eab, NewMrMe on a shortlist. Bound to have forgotten a few others.

May enter MSO this year
Edit no I can't go to that as it's on the bank Holiday weekend but I may go to the Scrabble which oddly is the week before.

Nor had I until about 4 years ago. Far too many to name, though quite a few have subsequently been banned so I could probably cull the list quite a bit.
Typically I like to avoid the rabid, venomous new type of fan, obsessed with a particular driver rather than being able to enjoy the sport for what it is. Having a favourite is obviously fine in itself, but when it crosses the line into showing contempt and disrespect for other top drivers then I don't want to hear it. They also tend to have double standards when discussing incidents based on the driver involved. No criticism of our guy allowed. Be part of the all-worshipping cult like wankfest or else you're a hater! Oh, just fuck off.
It's much easier to respect the viewpoints of those you disagree with when they can at least give credit where credit's due to others now and then, but the phrase "on the other hand" wouldn't be in their vocabulary.

I have nothing against the venue - I just enjoy the drinks and forks joke that never gets old. But I'm getting increasingly lazy about going to events in general.Marc Meakin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 8:55 amGavin Chipper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 18, 2025 9:54 pm The main question now is when are you coming to a CO-event? Re: C4C/apto/Countdown Dreams
Had an odd one last night where I was doing a Destination X style challenge that involved me parkouring down the side of a building (well, more 'falling semi-safely) into a bar in Barcelona, only to discover that I was the 7th arrival out of 9 people. Following that, I jump into a mini-steamroller and am driving along the length of a train to a dining car, where somehow I'm in the last 4, and the person in charge of the dining car is Gordon Ramsay (obviously). Mark Deeks and Graeme Cole are also in the last four, and our challenge is to find a name tag with our name on. Mark and Graeme succeed almost instantly, but I struggle and Ramsay is absolutely zero help. I then wake up.
