In about 1989, I went to a West Ham game, and the free kick taker kicked the corner flag by mistake. I have had sympathy for the quadrant thing since then.

The stuttering run up in a penalty pisses me off as the goalkeepers job is hard enough from 12 yards without the penalty taker trying to put you off
I think goalkeepers should be allowed off their line to compensate

When people say someone looks great "for their age" (invariably "her age", not sure I've ever heard it with "his"!) They look great - no need for qualification!

When it comes to men it's usually the opposite that's remarked upon eg welcome Brian from Worcester a 47 year old taxi driver to which I might say he's had a tough paper round

Why do (some) brides think they have the right to tell other attendees how to dress/wear their hair/etc?

I guess it's their day so what they say goes. Essentially if you are a guest at a wedding you are there for the benefit of the couple being married (and, in most cases of man/woman weddings, especially the bride).Mark Deeks wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 1:33 pm Why do (some) brides think they have the right to tell other attendees how to dress/wear their hair/etc?
That being said, small details about hair and clothing seem a shallow thing for them to care so much about.

Again from Facebook Marketplace. Anything to the effect of "tumble dryer, works perfectly, just doesn't spin". Well then it doesn't work perfectly, does it Brenda?

By which he meant he had bypassed it.
My jeans caught fire.
When I complained he said he winked at me when he said he sorted it
Still used it but babysat it everything and checked every 10 minutes.

A vehicle started reversing towards me in the car park at the doctor's yesterday, something made more stressful than it needed to be due to the fact that he had no reversing lights, so I didn't know his intentions. After we both parked and started to walk in, the following exchange happened.
ME: "Hey, just so you know, your reversing lights aren't working"
HIM, WITH THE MOST IRRITATINGLY SMUG FACE: "Actually, they aren't a legal requirement. Per the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations Act of 1989, reversing lights are classified as optional rather than mandatory, and only vehicles registered after 1st September 2009 are required to comply with the requirements of paragraph 6.4 of the ECE Regulation 48."
Mate, just change your fucking bulbs. You could have done it like eight times in the time it took to learn that speech.

Amazon Prime have just added Apple TV +to its list of subscriptions.
I already have Apple TV that I watch through an old Xbox as my smart tv isn't smart enough to include Apple.
So you would think I could just move my subscription to Prime .
Nope I have to end my subscription to Apple and start again.
This is as bad as the ' new customers only' deals with car insurance etc

Updating works passwords.
They recently traded off a 12 digital password to be changes every three months from an 8 digit password every month.
That I can accept.
They recommend a memorable phrase.
So I thought I would do a three letter phrase I use a lot.
Last month I Yoderised* it ( not a word but you know what I mean you do )
This month I went back to the previous month but I'm not allowed to do that so I'm doing it in Klingon instead

The funniest thing of all is that some workers feel compelled down their passwords which kinda defeats the object.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 12:42 pm Having to change passwords is a ridiculous concept. There's no basis for it and it's just more to fuck up.
A simpler solution is the OTP that Amazon and my Internet banking use , amongst others which means I don't have to change passwords at home

And another thing (it must be the wrong time of the year)
When you go to concert venue they are very specific about doors opening time by very vague on the time the main act comes on.
At the O2 Paul McCartney Concert the doors open at 6.30.
There is no support as he does nearly a 3 hour set (I've done my research and O2 curfew is 11pm ) so it could be 90 minutes of waiting/ drinking time.
I'm taking my own water and hope I can say , quite rightly I need water for medication

Inadvertent spoilers.
Usually if I go to the cinema and the classification is a 15 and it says contains scenes of suicide.
Why couldn't it say adult themes.
Also if I'm watching a limited season and 3 episodes from the end the tv channel announces on the socials that it has been recommissioned for season 2.
Thanks Sky , won't spoiler the show in question

Deal Or No Deal is a crap show, I'm sure we all know that already, but what absolutely does my piss about it is all the talk about "beating" the banker. As if they have screwed him somehow every time one of the blue numbers gets ruled out. The guy's giving away money to strangers and you're acting like you're getting one over him somehow, it's madness. Have some respect for the hand that feeds you.

You can't beat the banker because he never makes a fair offer for your box. It's always less than the EV. You can beat the show by refusing to listen to any of the banker's offers, and insisting that you keep whatever is in your box.Mark Deeks wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 7:26 pm Deal Or No Deal is a crap show, I'm sure we all know that already, but what absolutely does my piss about it is all the talk about "beating" the banker. When paying by card you are not allowed to leave a tip on the card payment but you can leave cash.
If you have a set menu that comes with chips if you say you don't want the chips with it you still pay the full price for the meal

Normally you can leave a tip on the card. I think it's quite rare not to be able to. And lots of people wouldn't have cash for tips on them these days anyway so it's then not your fault if you don't tip!
