This is the last week of shows in which words from the historical dictionary (OED) were imported into the living dictionary (OD Premium) at the time of recording. From 16th September, historical words such as ‘mislodge’ and ‘paulins’ will no longer be allowable Countdown words. This change is permanent.

I doubt they’ll mention it to be honest, but we’ll see. The producer is aware though and I think 12 months from now people will get used to it and it’ll be like nothing had happened.
