Never mind that it sounded to me like Colin said "strange" instead of "strained", but ADHESIVE has an H in it! Is that not the normal pronunciation?
Edit - Basically everyone pronounces the H, even in America.

I would pronounce the noun without the H and the adjective with, i.e. the a-dee-sive substance has ad-hee-sive properties.
