Enjoy the show.

Round 1: E I R F R D O E S

Andy: foreside
Doron: refried
DC: FERRIES (7) FERRIED (7)
OT: DEFIERS (7) DERRIES (7) REREDOS (7) SERRIED (7)
Score: 0–0 (max 7)

Susie tells us that refried only exists in combination with beans (i.e. you can have REFRIED BEANS but nothing can just be refried) and that foreside isn’t in the dictionary either.

Round 2: C M O W A B E S D

Andy: MEADOWS (7)
Doron: COMBED (6)
DC: WEBCAMS (7)
Score: 7–0 (max 14)

Andy has MEADOWS which David Emmanuel tells him he also had, prompting Andy to say “well done” to the DC Guest

Round 3: 9, 8, 5, 10, 2, 50. Target: 648.

Andy: 648. ((8+5)*50)-2 (10)
Doron: 648. ((8+5)*50)-2 (10)
Score: 17–10 (max 24)
Its an easy one that they both get, nothing was certain until the declarations though given that Andy missed one of comparable difficulty last week.

Teatime teaser: PIECHART -> PATCHIER

Round 4: Q I S T E D S A E

Andy: STEADIES (8)
Doron: STEADIES (8)
DC: DISEASE (7) SEDATES (7) SEASIDE (7)
Score: 25–18 (max 32)

Can’t ask for any more than that from either player.

Round 5: O N A R N D O E L

Andy: LARDOON (7)
Doron: LOANED (6)
OT: LADRONE (7)
Score: 32–18 (max 39)

The apterous advantage is clearly evident in this round as Andy spots the slightly obscure eight.
A LADRONE is a Latin term for a bandit.

Round 6: 7, 3, 5, 6, 3, 50. Target: 874.

Andy: 874. (((50*3)-5)*6)+(7-3) (10)
Doron: -
Score: 42–18 (max 49)

Andy’s method seems needlessly complicated, but he is spot on with the solution, something that has eluded him on many numbers games during his run.

DC Guest – David recounts a story where he designed an outfit for Sophie Ward and a photoshoot was organised where nail varnish ended up all over her outfit, but they muddled through anyway (riveting stuff).

Round 7: E W S J R N O E A

Andy: WEANERS (7)
Doron: jawers
Score: 49–18 (max 56)

Andy has his WEANERS, Dron is not so lucky.

Round 8: T C M T I O S E L

Andy: COTTISE (7)
Doron: MOTTLES (7)
DC: CLOSET (6)
OT: MOTLIEST (8)
Score: 56–25 (max 64)

Both contestants spot nice sevens, that is surprise miss by DC though as they don’t spot the fairly standard MOTLIEST.

Round 9: 8, 9, 10, 6, 10, 100. Target: 733.

Andy: 734. Mistake in working.
Doron: 733. Mistake in working.
RR: 733. ((100-6)*8)-(10+9) (10)
Score: 56–25 (max 74)

Doron miscalculates as he believes 91x8 is 729, Andy had misdeclared having reached the target thinking he was one away. Rachel then cleans up the mess.

Teatime teaser: SHERANIT -> HAIRNETS

Round 10: R X G O T S I E H

Andy: EXHORTS (7)
Doron: GOITRES (7)
OT: GORIEST (7) HERIOTS (7) HOISTER (7) OGREISH (7) SHORTIE (7) SIGHTER (7)
Score: 63–32 (max 81)

It’s a flat round and both get the max. This has been another comfortable game for Andy and there has been no real threat to his attempt to make it seven out of seven.

Round 11: I E I A K T N I R

Andy: INERTIA (7)
Doron: intaker
DC: INERTIA (7) KERATIN (7)
OT: KAINITE (7)
Score: 70–32 (max 88)

Doron probably would not have tried intaker if Andy hadn’t already declared seven. Andy is clearly the better player by some distance.

OoW- Susie talks about some terms related to smoking, including vapers, cloudchasing and more

Round 12: M E N G P A V E A

Andy: MANEGE (6)
Doron: pagemen
DC: MENAGE (6) APEMEN (6) AVENGE (6)
OT: APEMAN (6) GENEVA (6) MANAGE (6) PAVAGE (6) PAVANE (6)
Score: 76–32 (max 94)

For a second or two Doron probably had some hope that he would win a round as Susie searches for pagemen with some optimism, but it turns out to be invalid and Andy has his seventh win, which he essentially had sewn up several rounds ago.
There was a nice Jon O’Neill special there with GENEVA.

Round 13: R N O U A I P P M

Andy: RAMPION (7)
Doron: APRON (5)
Score: 83–32 (max 101)

Andy mentions a plant, not (as Susie points out) for the first time in his run. It may be that he made some wordlists prior to his appearance on the show and one of them may be a list of flowers and plants.

Round 14: 1, 6, 1, 2, 7, 25. Target: 650.

Andy: 650. (25*2)*(7+6) (10)
Doron: -
Score: 93–32 (max 111)

That numbers game proves too tough for Doron who must have been much better at the audition.

Round 15: S O C C E R S A Y

No one buzzes. The answer was ACCESSORY.
Final Score: 93–32 (max 121)

So no conundrum spot today for Andy but the win is his and he is now one game from being 2015’s first eight game winner.

Join Jennifer tomorrow to see if he can become the fourth Andy in four years to become an octochamp.
