Spoilers For Tuesday December 16th 2014
So, we've already reached the last of the quarter-finals today, and this, along with the connecting semi-final tomorrow could make the race to the title more exciting than it's already more than you could even imagine (if that makes any sense, which I'm sure it doesn't...... )
So, it's the battle of #4 v #5 today, as the #4 seed, Mark "The Widnes Warlord" Davies takes on the #5 seed, George "The Whittlesey Warrior" Ford. This match is certainly a battle between the master wordsmith and the master numbersmith. And with just a 12 points gap in their rankings, it's certainly hard to call...............
Statistics Corner:
Firstly, No.4 Seed Mark "The Widnes Warlord" Davies - 8 Wins, 844 Points. (Average: 105.5)
Highest Score: 137 vs. Keith Myers-Sleight (6th Game)
Lowest Score: 85 vs. Bill Linton (5th Game)
9's Achieved: 3/6
Total Points/Max/%: 844/1030 (82%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 557/633 (88%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 247/317 (78%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 40/80 (50%)
Secondly, No.5 Seed George "The Whittlesey Warrior" Ford - 8 Wins, 832 Points. (Average: 104)
Highest Score: 114 vs. John Payne (2nd Game)
Lowest Score: 95 vs. Stewart Fraser (5th Game)
9's Achieved: 1/1
Total Points/Max/%: 832/988 (84%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 494/591 (84%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 288/317 (91%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 50/80 (63%)

George's jumper has to be the best knitwear seen on the show since the 30th Birthday final.

Did Mark end round early on MOULDIER?
Also, to get 724: (75+3) x 8 + (50x(7-5))

75×8+(50-7)×3-5=724. Standard method, obviously.

Good game, chaps. Close game for the most part. Well done to George for making the semis and to Mark for making the quarters.
Hopefully the semis will have crucials.

This was one of those games where you don't want anyone to lose Well done George and well played Mark; really good-natured contest between two impressive players. I think Mark should do voiceovers for action film trailers.
The 660 is possible.

Were the two small numbers 9 and 3 ? If so, I have the solution.

Assuming I put it into the recap writer correctly, they're 9 and 7.Mark Kudlowski wrote:Were the two small numbers 9 and 3 ? If so, I have the solution.

Congratulations to George. A worthy winner and a nice lad too.
I think we were both nervous beforehand but he handled it much better than I did.
As for the MOULDIER round I didn't finish early I just find it easier to jumble the letters round in my mind without looking at them.

75 + 50 + 7 = 132 ; 9 - (100 / 25) = 5; 132 x 5 = 660Jennifer Steadman wrote:Assuming I put it into the recap writer correctly, they're 9 and 7.Mark Kudlowski wrote:Were the two small numbers 9 and 3 ? If so, I have the solution.

Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 16th 2014
really well done to both George and Mark today.. another great game and I couldn't call it between the two of you during the game.
Completely agree with Jen. 2 great and genuinely nice players and shame one of you had to lose. Had a laugh out loud moment at George's hmm at the end when he was told he would be playing Dan.. Looking forward to the next stages

That was a very good game. Well done George on making the semi finals and well done to Mark as well.
Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 16th 2014
Have to give credit to George today, thought he was really, really solid. Nematode a cracking spot and risking passives was very nice too. Just surprised he blanked the 1st numbers completely, not that it mattered.

Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 16th 2014
After the final numbers round mark look depressed at having messed it up, the look on his face suggested that his whole world had caved in.
I hope he's ok cos he's clearly a really nice bloke. And you had already lost mark!

Re: Spoilers For Tuesday December 16th 2014
Great game and very high standard! This was so difficult to call at the start between two evenly-matched players. Congrats George for responding after falling behind twice. Commiserations Mark but you can certainly be very proud of your performances. As others have mentioned, he is a top person, as is George.
Last numbers: (75-9)*((50*7-100)/25) = 660
