Countdown T-shirt - funny

Post by Tom »

Saw someone wearing one of these the other day - this guy's T-shirt, had the blue squares on with the phrase "G- F-CK Y--RS-LF" would you like to buy a vowel? on it, saw this once in a funny JPEG photo but never in real life before. Just curious if anyone has seen these before?
Probably the second tallest ever series finalist.

Those look like they're modeled after Wheel of Fortune, not Countdown!

A Countdown-themed t-shirt would say Would you like to "pick" a vowel, not "buy" a vowel.

Even then it wouldn't make sense.

Yes - all the letter would have to be consecutive from the start, and the gaps after that, with only nine spaces in total and all in one line. And let's not even get started on the colours.

There has actually been a Countdown t-shirt before. Going by a picture of what looks like Damian Eadie, posing in front of the Blackpool tower with his dictionaries and a glass of bubbly, he is wearing a white t-shirt with the word Countdown on it.

I think now though, they just have polo shirts (which is what you get in the goodie bag).

The date of the magazines are January and February 1995. Now looking at the winners list here, Damian won his series in 1994 and because it was the last one of the year, then it's logic that his picture would appear in the magazine until the first final of 1995.

It's a good picture.

Incidentally, you are also on the inside front cover, where the Countdown PC game is advertised :D
