Discuss anything that happened in recent games. This is the place to post any words you got that beat Dictionary Corner, or numbers games that evaded Rachel.
On we go, further and further into Series 64, but now we're guided by the Apte-light of Adam Gillard, who got himself an impressive win and a century to boot in yesterday's win over Gavin Cooksley.
How far can he go in his quest for octochampdom....
Join me for the Robinson Recap later to see if he can pass his 2nd test.
James Robinson wrote:Nicely done, Adam. You ruined my max game with SUTTEES there. Luckily, I wouldn't have got BANDEROLS either, but very well done again.
JUSTEST was also there in the same round as SUTTEES (which was a quality spot by Adam). Its not valid on apterous, but JUST is a one syllable adjective so is valid under the countdown rules. Could also have had TSETSE for 6.
Just looked at the recap and would have maxed everything but the conundrum. Pretty confident I would have got that too given a little bit longer [/twattish brag]
I like humour to take risks - which means that sometimes boundaries will be overstepped. I lose interest in comedians when they try to get the majority of their laughs from the overstepping of the boundaries rather than the sharpness of comic insight. Frankie Boyle is one person who can be funny AND tasteless, but he loses me when he thinks that insult per se is funny. Insult can be very funny, but for me it needs the right context to make it work as humour rather than, er, insult, and a deserving target.
