Spoilers For Wednesday January 12th 2011
Well, we're 2 days into Countdown, and we're already onto our 2nd champion of the series, in the form of Gavin Cooksley. A very impressive win by him over Mike Pickering yesterday puts him in the champions' chair, but for how long.....
Today's challenger is a member of the Apteforumite family, but unfortunately, the said participant has paid me hush money to keep quiet, so as not to reveal his/her identity until he/she is shown on our screens. So, if you want to know who it is, watch the show at 3:10 today.
Or if you can't be bothered to watch the show, enjoy the return of the Robinson Recap later.

James, is this your un-PC way of trying to tell us that it's Mikki Nicholson?James Robinson wrote:Today's challenger is a member of the Apteforumite family, but unfortunately, the said participant has paid me hush money to keep quiet, so as not to reveal his/her identity until he/she is shown on our screens.

No, definitely not. I'll say immediately that it's definitely not Mikki.Josh Hurst wrote:James, is this your un-PC way of trying to tell us that it's Mikki Nicholson?James Robinson wrote:Today's challenger is a member of the Apteforumite family, but unfortunately, the said participant has paid me hush money to keep quiet, so as not to reveal his/her identity until he/she is shown on our screens.
Another point: I did say "Apteforumite", which means on here, as well as on Apterous, and my check of the records confirms that Mikki isn't on here yet.
But, don't worry. There's only just over half an hour to go.

Man, I love Tim Vine. Adam Gillard is my fave series 64 contestant so far. He's such a cheeky scamp.

Awesome, I'd jokily speculated about Adam appearing (punctuation mark) yesterday on apterous, was a surprise to flip over and see him on apterous TV. He sort of reminds me of Mr Benn.
PADRINOS/PONIARDS was there in the DINOSAUR round.

But yeah a good debut, solid century couldn't ask for anything more really. BOPATA was strange 'cos although I'd never heard of it I half expected it to be in seen as you know some weird words. I like you more on TV than on apterous too.
One thing though...when my friend was in the audience, the floor manager told him to take his hat off.

If you're referring to Round 11, Oliver, there was no N in the selection.Oliver Garner wrote:AVAUNT
Very well done, Adam. Very good start.
One interesting point during the game, I thought my mum was going mad when she said you had a cap on, then when we checked in the next round, we saw what I presume is a yarmulka on your head, very discretely hidden.
FORMATE in round 3 and HERNIAL in round 12.
2nd Numbers Alt.: (50 + 2 + 1) x (6 - 2) x 4 = 848

Well played Adam.
Did anyone else notice that strange background noise in round 2 just after Adam offered his word? I thought it might be that they were resetting the clock and the hand needs oiling, but it sounded more like the death rattle of the little goblin that runs around inside it.

Re: Spoilers For Wednesday January 12th 2011
I was very nervous to start off with actually - I didn't even realise at the time that I was rocking in the chair at the beginning. As for the round of applause at the end, I was briefly clapping along with the audience until I realised I was essentially clapping for myself and stopped. Gavin was a good opponent and all-round nice guy and that helped me to settle into the game as well.Marcus Hares wrote:Great debut Adam - you looked very composed. I arrived at the studios wearing a flat-cap-thingy. Damian actually said I could wear that on the show if I wanted (which I didn't), so they don't seem too fussed. In any case I'm sure that my kippah or other religious headgear (e.g. a turban) would be acceptable even if they were stricter on hats.Ben Hunter wrote:I remember a guy not too long ago who wore a flat cap.
