I confidently reckon come July/August she’ll get rid of her Weakest Link traits, and she’ll flow better.

Re: Validity of letters, their plurals, and Roman numerals

Sorry to be negative, but this would be against the spirit of a word game. As a side point, Apterous disallows words in ODO that are defined as a noun but its definition indicates it is an obvious abbreviation (e.g. PSIA). This is not an official Countdown rule, but I think these, as well as letters...

Re: First impressions of Anne

Re opening titles: I actually asked the producer about this, but he said they won’t get new titles because they cost quite a bit of money to make. Countdown really are cutting costs now.

Anyway, Anne was solid, and she’ll grow in to the role and improve.

These finals just prove that previous form goes out the window. Latchford has the lowest average score for a champion of a 15-round series with 92.18181818… per game. He amassed 1,014 points to Boynton’s 1,315.

Hate to say it, but I doubt Declan will be picked for a Championship of Champions, because he was only a quarter-finalist. Jen Steadman was a quarter-finalist, but was chosen as she was statistically the best female player between the 30BC and CoC XVI, and she narrowly lost to the eventual series ch...

In my experience I find myself score 10 or 11 maxes yet still not achieving centuries at the same time. I think it proves the damage done by scoring 0 in a round is underestimated.

VASELINE is *not* valid and therefore will be removed from the Apterous dictionary (note that it lags behind Countdown). Where a headword is capitalised, it must have an un-capitalised sub-entry in bold to be valid So why does Susie go through the example sentences for mass nouns to see if any of t...

Millionaire and Beat the Chasers are definitely event television in their own right, especially if they air in consecutive nights. The first 7 series of Millionaire from 1998 to 2000 ran for 7 to 12 consecutive nights, roughly once every four months or so. That was when it was at its height; up to 1...

RIP Marcel Stellman

Marcel Stellman, the man who brought Countdown to the UK from France in the early 1980’s, has died at the age of 96. https://www.apterous.org/ticket_view.ph ... =6124&vc=0

He presented the winner’s trophy to Conor Travers in the 2013 30th Birthday Championship final.

RIP Marcel - a great man

The challenger first appeared on Countdown in 2004 and lost on his debut by a crucial conundrum, so he must have put 17 years of hard work in to improve non-stop. I doubt he’s an Apterite under a pseudonym TBH. Very bad luck to Tom - overwhelmed by the second-highest maiden victory score in Countdow...

Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted that in the last letters round, on the last letter Rachel drew the letter M turned upside-down making it appear as a funny-shaped W. When Colin Murray started the clock, the letter was immediately replaced with a W turned the right-way up.
