Both of the losers of the S80 semifinals never declared a 9 during their time on the show. Is this the furthest any player has advanced without doing so, or do some runners-up (even winners?) fit the bill? (exc. CoC, Masters or special games). It's happened before many times. Congratulations to David on winning 8. With some numbers work he could certainly have a chance to advance beyond the QFs pending on who he would face. However, the series has been quite octo heavy already- so someone like Stephen probably will not stand a chance of being a finalist....

1. In light of today's players scoring 0 on the numbers rounds overall, is this a new record? Today was the first 15 rounder with no points scored on numbers. This applies to both 15-round formats - previously the lowest total numbers score for an episode was 7 for the current format (four numbers ...

2. What is the longest string of centuries in preliminary games?- I would have thought that 9 in a row starting from Elliott Mellor's 1st game would be a contender. Zarte's first run + Dylan's octorun + Gemma's first game (14 games total) is most likely I reckon. I've had a look at all the octocham...

Good game. Whilst his numbers are still a tad patchy, I do think David can win 8 as his letters are much better than the average player. Felt for Martin, judging by his expressions during r14, I reckon he had it and then went wrong..... Definitely could have won himself a few v different players....

The quest for nine octochamps in a series took a hit today. Stephen was a good player, but his letters were nowhere near as good as his numbers. If he was better at them, I woukd have no doubt that he would win 8. However, David could make up for Stephen's loss if he keeps up neat performances like...
