Mastermind

Hi guys, with Countdown being the only show I've ever done and never taken the opportunity to try at Brainteaser or anything else, I've mildly contemplated giving Mastermind on BBC 2 a crack. Has anyone ever done this before and if so what was your specialist subject? And are there any parameters as to how narrow your subject would be?

Any hints or tips for this? and what are the prizes in place for winning/ 2nd place etc.

If I was to do it, my probable specialist subject would be 1990's Dance Music.

Question 1: What is it that I want with immediate effect, and for what reason?

I was on a few weeks ago, my subject was Metallica. 90s dance is a pretty wide subject, the researchers will chat with you if it's acceptable in the first place and try to make it probably more specific and as interesting for viewing as possible. Think more of particular acts than a whole genre! Also, you'll need to find some good references to work from, wikipedia just doesn't cut it...

There was a contestant on this past Friday's Mastermind by the name of Lisa Hermann.

Is this our Lisa Hermann who posts here?

If so, another bumping is coming soon.

It's a bit late, but yes, well done.

Mr Vain hadn't occurred to me, though on reflection it appears to be the most accurate answer.

I was about to propose the same answer "you", but this time the reasons being "every day giving me more and more", "keeping me satisfied", "doing all the things that I like", etc. From Do You Want It Right Now? by Degrees Of Motion featuring Biti and Kit West.

Whilst I have been on a TV general knowledge quiz in the past, the problem I'd have with Mastermind is that my general knowledge is generally only good enough to score somewhere between 5 and 10, which even with a perfect specialist round is unlikely to cut the mustard. I would do better at Sports Mastermind, if it comes back. And if they ever think of doing Music Mastermind, I'll be there...
