Round 2: W P D E O S M E H

C1: DEPOSE (6)
C2: SHOWED (6)
DC: MOPEDS (6) MOSHED (6)

Score: 12–19 (max 23)

A tricky 690 to find, which leaves June completely off the scent, letting Jessamine take the first lead of the day, while Rachel uses my method to get to the answer!! :P

Teatime teaser: IRANSUED -> DENARIUS

C2: COALMEN (7)
DC: MONOCLE (7)

C1: VERSION (7)
C2: WORNEST (7)
DC: SNOWIER (7) INVESTOR (8)

Round 13: T L I E D R I D A

C1: TRAILED (7)
C2: TRAILED (7)
DC: TIDDLIER (8)
Score: 67–71 (max 100)

Our contestants continue matching up, as we head into the final phase.....

Round 14: 100, 25, 3, 1, 8, 10. Target: 300.

C1: 300. 3 x 100 (10)
C2: 300. 3 x 100 (10)
Score: 77–81 (max 110)

Round 15: E R I C S N I N E

C1 buzzes on 6.25 seconds to say INSINCERE which is correct.
Final Score: 87–81 (max 120)

Well, well, well. June steals the win after being behind for just about the entirety of this match :!: :!:   :o :o

Jessamine played well, but I think it's fair to say that rounds 8-11 were her downfall, with unnecessary risks, and any safe words in any of those rounds, and she'd have been home and dry. Well, we'll never know how she would've done.

But, June has managed to stay in the champions' chair, and will be hoping to achieve half-octochampdom tomorrow, when Countdown returns to 3:30pm for 2 days only. 8-) 8-)

So, join me for that, and till then, I'll see you soon. Bye bye. ;) :) :D  8-)

Re round 11: I was a bit surprised that no definition was given of PAEONS as I'd never heard the word before (I thought it must be an error for PAEANS at first). Apparently it's a metrical foot consisting of one stressed and three unstressed syllables - I suppose "ordinary" might be an example?
