Our own Rob Gibney has been doing very well so far, with all 3 wins at least in the 90s. Can he get a 4th today? The good-ish news for him is that as long as he scores at least 9 points today, win or lose he will enter the top 8, but I'm confident he can get at least a couple more wins. Was travelling yesterday so my only thought on Jenny Eclair is that her last name really wants me to get a pastry.

What about PIRACIES in round 3? It's valid on apterous but PIRACY is listed as a mass noun in the ODE 3.
SEROTINE in round 13, AGOUTIS in round 12 and the old favourite LEOTARD in round 11.
1st numbers: (100-2)x(3+1)-1 = 391
3rd numbers: (50-6)x(2+1) = 132

It's a mass noun in all senses in ODE2r as well, and PIRACIES doesn't seem to have been expressly allowed on the show before, so I can't see why it's allowed on apterous.Jack Worsley wrote:What about PIRACIES in round 3? It's valid on apterous but PIRACY is listed as a mass noun in the ODE 3.

Not sure I have ever seen a challenger score 18 on the first round and then score so few thereafter. Myself, I had UNCREATED written down, but didn't risk it, so only scored 120. Alt way of making the 32 in 2nd numbers was
(50-((10/5)x9)).
(50-((10/5)x9)).

I my ODE3 it only says mass noun against definition 1 but not definition 2, so it should be valid, but only for software.Innis Carson wrote:It's a mass noun in all senses in ODE2r as well, and PIRACIES doesn't seem to have been expressly allowed on the show before, so I can't see why it's allowed on apterous.Jack Worsley wrote:What about PIRACIES in round 3? So you certainly wouldn't have risked UNCREATE, I guess. That word still troubles me.Tony Atkins wrote:Myself, I had UNCREATED written down, but didn't risk it, so only scored 120.

The only one I can think of in recent times is Jagie Rai in Series 62, who gave so many wrong answers after getting DETONATES in round 1 of his game.Tony Atkins wrote:Not sure I have ever seen a challenger score 18 on the first round and then score so few thereafter.
TRIGONES in round 13.
