Suppose you're having home made curry, is it ok to go to your nearby curry house and order just a couple of naan breads? Or is that dickish? Will the owner see right through you and realise that you're having someone else's curry, and just using him as a petty bread vendor? Or is this common behaviour?

I don't see why not. It's not as though the main dishes are used to subsidise super-cheap naan bread, they probably make a similar mark-up on either and it's all business, innit? I say go for it.

I don't think there should be a problem with that. It's all business to them. It's not as though they're going to be selling you a curry anyway. They might as well curry favour (sorry,couldn't resist) with you by giving you what you want. Then, next time you want a curry, you'll be more inclined to go to that curry house.

i have often thought we should order a load of naans when we get a takeaway and then freeze them (as they are so much better than supermarket ones or even, , homemade ones!). Sadly, I never seem to remember.

Logically yes, these arguments are sound, and I don't think I'd hesitate were it not my local place which we regularly use. The owner is a bit 'chatty', and would almost certainly want to know why we were getting naan breads (which you surely only order if you're having curry) and not buying his curry. Could get awkward/violent.

I came into this thread with a reply along those lines specifically in mind. I have nothing to say now.

Tesco Garlic and Coriander Mini Naans are the answer. They taste nice, they're small enough that you can have rice and a naan without feeling overstuffed, and they come in packs of six so you can pop the leftover ones in the freezer. Plus, ignore the rubric on the back that says that if you do freeze them, they have to be defrosted before heating - you can stick them straight in the oven straight from frozen and they're hot, moist and steaming in about five minutes. Yum.

Er, other brands of Garlic and Coriander Mini Naan are (probably) available.
