If you can't play this week then given the circumstances it's not too much of a hassle to give everyone else bye wins- will you be able to play in the remainder of the tourney, though?Martyn Simpson wrote:I will endeavour to get my games played this week, but to Chris Hare, Dan McColm and Giles Hutchings - my partner gave birth on Monday, so I may have to forefit these games this week, as i don't plan on being online much.

Website has been updated. A quick reminder that if games aren't played by the deadline on Tuesday night, they will be adjudicated, and anybody who hasn't played any week 2 games and hasn't got in touch with me to let me know they're still interested will be removed from the competition.
At the moment, these people are:
Championship: Stuart Arnot, Hugh Binnie, Drew Halliburton, Milo McKenzie, maybe Joseph krol depending on how to interpret that last message.
Open: James Levison, Julie Taylor, Lesley Hines, Rhys Benjamin
And in the premier Ollie still needs to pull his finger out as the October 4th deadline for those games is fast approaching.

They get deactivated from the tournament like those other guys did in week 1. If an odd number is left some people may end up playing 2 games in one week instead of 3 but will only ever have to do this once.Thomas Carey wrote:Yeah. I've messaged Lesley twice and got no reply. Julie Taylor's having issues with her internet connection on holiday and hasn't been able to play any games as a result - she's trying to get it sorted out before the deadline, but would it be possible for us to play later in the week if she can't get it sorted out today?

Beat James 90-88 in a close but not particular awesome game.
Last game for me is Ned Pendleton but I've had no luck getting hold of him. I've signed in at least two or three times throughout every day last week and today (not over the weekend), and even signed in less than 2 minutes after the "last seen" time on his profile, but haven't bumped into him. I've also sent him an aptomail - the back end of last week, Thursday or Friday - and not received any response. Will keep trying but can't do much more.

Re: Apterous Autumn Tournament
Website is being updated as we speak.
In the premier, there are five games left to play by tomorrow night. If Ollie managed to play and beat Ed and James N, it'll have the utterly ridiculous effect of putting Innis 4 wins clear of the field with 3 games left to play (assuming Ollie doesn't then play and win more). Thank god there's a semifinal stage at the end of this tournament, at least there'll be some competition for second...
In the championship, everyone's played at least one game this week so will be entered into the final week's matches. This one's a little closer than the premier with Chris Hare, Jojo Apollo and Martyn 'new dad' Simpson top on 7-2 records, though if Dan McColm plays his remaining games in time he can still leapfrog them.
In the open, those with fingers that need to be removed are Ned Pendleton, James Bradley, Matt Morrison and Dan Abrey (in a twist, the four highest remaining seeds). Karen's dominating the division on an 8-1 record, MWM is still technically unbeaten and can catch her... if he gets the games played.
For the final week's matches you may find yourself playing someone for a second time. This is normal and no cause for panic. Pairings will be up tomorrow evening.

Re: Apterous Autumn Tournament
In a quite odd game of letters and numbers (and not a conundrum too, before you say that you prick) I ousted Dan by 85-60 which was far too flattering considering some of my "first day on apterous" errors.
Cool. Obviously as you can see from above I've played Dan, Ben. Still not heard a reply from Ned in over two weeks (I think) and assuming no one else has either, so I'm personally counting that as three points. I've managed to hear from Steve and despite time differences and his busyness, he's been "last seen" 'right now' for well over 20 minutes (see my post in the General Feedback thread) but hasn't found his way to the Play button yet, unfortunately. And then there's been no response from Jason Turner. My status as a stump-deserving shit is undeserved, I assure you.Ben Wilson wrote:In the open, those with fingers that need to be removed are Ned Pendleton, James Bradley, Matt Morrison and Dan Abrey (in a twist, the four highest remaining seeds). Just a quick one for people who find they have multiple games against the same opponent-I'll be taking the results in the order they appear on apterous. So if you play two games against someone where you've already had a game adjudicated, then only the first result will count.

For completion's sake. And you, erm, played the game anyway, I see.Adam Gillard wrote:Why have I still got a game against Eoin? I'm not in the top 4 so wouldn't have made it to the semi-finals. Please explain.
Anyways, website has been updated. For some reason the tables are being difficult and not appearing so I'll give a brief rundown of the state of play-
in the premier, Innis is rather unsurprisingly unassailable at the top and guaranteed #1 seed for the semifinals. Ed is currently second but can't finish any lower than 3rd so he's guaranteed to be both in the semis and not playing Innis in them, so the final of the premier may well be a repeat of the final of this year's masters... A bit further down James N is sitting on 6-3 having not played yet this week and could overhaul Ed for second, but realistically would probably have to win all 3 games to do so. One of them's against Innis btw. Fourth place is a lot more of an open struggle, mathematically anyone on 6 or fewer losses could snatch it if results go the right way. If the Gillies/Deeks matches end 3-0 in either player's favour they're likely to take it, otherwise favourite for 4th place would be James R.
In the championship Dan McColm is all but locked in for first place. Chris Hare could theoretically topple him but he'd have to win all 3 remaining games- including one against Dan himself. Another of Chris's games is against current 2nd-place sitter Jojo Apollo, who will secure second with a win against Dan (his final game). 3rd and 4th are much more open contests, with Martyn Simpson, Giles Hutchings, Marcus Hares, Graeme Cole and theoretically Barry Bridger all in with a shot at the final 2 places along with Chris.
In the open Matt and Karen are looking likely to be playing off for the #1 seed spot Nathan Cullen looks good for 3rd but can still be toppled by either of James Levison or Dan Abrey.

Congratulations to Matt who managed to beat me 2-1 over our three games. All close, tense games and very enjoyable.
I think this means Matt wins the Open (unless there's another stage that I have not understood.)

Re: Apterous Autumn Tournament
I explained to Ryan that this was still the preliminary round and we played our game. Thanks for clearing it up for the dim-witted.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U
C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)
Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Re: Apterous Autumn Tournament
I think if I do this next year I'll have to drastically reduce the number of both rounds and weeks involved. The intent is still to have a semifinal/grand final stage after the games are completed/starting next Wednesday but if people would rather stick with the results of the first four weeks games I'm happy to bow to public opinion.

I know this will be an annoying question to answer Ben, but I don't understand how I got a half point in the second stage?

Trying to bring This page up to date - do you want it listed as 3 separate tournaments?

Re: Apterous Autumn Tournament
Eh, kind of. The previous summer & winter tournaments each had lower divisions that aren't listed and the championship/open tiers fall under the same heading.
Website updated, btw.
