Who Do You Want In The COC?
As unlikely as it seems that there will be one, I'm sure 99% of people want to see another COC.
This thread is for discussion as who you'd want/expect to see in the line up and who you would want/expect to win.
Kirk, Chris, Oliver, Jack, Ed, plus 65 winner would presumebly be dead certs. Leaving 11 positions left.
I'd like to see: Hamish, Andrew, Innis, Ryan, Nikki, Eoin, Daniel Pati, Scott, Marcus, Adam, with one space probably for someone from 65.

I'd love to take part in this. But also, you'd need a few more women, so I definitely think Nikki, along with Marie Adie and possibly Julie Russell would take part.

Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
Top thread.
All the champions obviously:
Kirk Bevins
Chris Davies
Oliver Garner
Jack Hurst
Edward McCullagh
I would definitely also want to invite this lot:
Andrew Hulme
Innis Carson
Eoin Monaghan
Adam Gillard
And assuming that it would be after the next series and that there will be two from the next series:
Jimmy Gough
Marcus Hares
Daniel Pati
Nicki Sellars
Neil Zussman
So I've ended up with all the finalists (as in those who got to the final rather than the "finals") plus selected others. If the next series was of a high enough standard, I might want to pick more than two of them so some of the above would be at risk.

To me doing that is no better than biasing it the other way and making sure it's all men. I think it should be done purely on how well they did.Eoin Monaghan wrote:I'd love to take part in this. Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
I'm pretty sure they said that since everyone is now so good, a 15-episode CoC is too long. I can see them doing a shorter one though. Maybe have a week-long one (like CoC X) featuring just the winners from Series 60 through 65?
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
It's an interesting idea, but a week-long tournament containing only the six series winners would mean you'd have a CoC without Innis or Eoin, which wouldn't do it justice IMO. You could have an 8-player tournament with the same structure as the series finals to fix that. You'd still be leaving out some exceptionally strong players though, so it's a shame another three-week tournament is so unlikely to happen.Johnny Canuck wrote:I'm pretty sure they said that since everyone is now so good, a 15-episode CoC is too long. Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
I have little doubt it's already been mooted, but I think a strong compromise would be a long-form CoC over non-consecutive days. There might be, say, 'regular' games from Monday through to Thursday, and then a 15-game CoC competed on Fridays over the course of 15 weeks. Whilst I can foresee issues with continuity of DC guests, the same issue arose when the show went to six days a week during the height of 'Deal or No Deal'-mania and wasn't excessively noticeable.
It would be a small price to pay for a balance of 'play along at home' programmes suited to the majority of viewers and advanced games for those who enjoy seeing the game taken to the next level.

Everyone who was at Walkabout on Wednesday night after the finals. Was about 16. Can always add Jack / Oliver / Kirk to make up the numbers.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U
C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)
Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
Thinking about this yesterday and thought that from 60-64, this could be the draw (I've replaced Scott with Craig from Douglas's OP)
Hurst vs Gough
Pati vs Hulme
Garner vs Gillard
Hares vs Davies
McCullagh vs Taylor
Sellars vs Carson
Monaghan vs Zussman
Chittenden vs Bevins
With winner 1 playing winner 2 etc.
Since it ain't gonna happen, there's no harm in any of this
It seems that Damian's main argument for not having one is that people don't want to watch (which I've addressed elsewhere) at the peak viewing time of the year. The CoC which Paul Gallen won took place in the summer, so he should know that doesn't have to be so.

Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
I would like:
Series 60: Kirk Bevins, Jimmy Gough and Cate Henderson.
Series 61: Chris Davies, Andrew Hulme and Innis Carson.
Series 62: Oliver Garner, Nicki Sellars and Danny Pledger.
Series 63: Jack Hurst, Eoin Monaghan and Daniel Pati.
Series 64: Edward McCullagh, Adam Gillard and Tom Barnes.
Gosh, this was nightmaric to format!

Re: Who Do You Want In The COC?
I was kind of hoping that Series 65 was starting early so that a COC could be added in (either at the beginning or end), but we would probably know by now if that was the case.
Just my luck I had to find out about Countdown right AFTER the last COC, eh? Is anyone else in this situation?
I'm going to give it about another year before I seriously start believing they're axed, though.
Anyway, if there were to be 16 people I would probably include all the champions and runner-ups, plus the highest-scoring semi-finalists. Very simple, I would go based on scores and nothing else.

Is "COC" pronounced the same as "cock"?
