Tiny Tots Tournament

This will be a tournament for anyone under the age of 18 as of today (14th April). There are 8 places up for grabs (I will be able to make up the numbers if we only have 7). Each round will consist of the standard 9-round games, with the first person to win twice proceeding.
My provisional idea as to how this will work is that there will be a standard 9-round Duel. All 8 entrants must play the Duel, and their seedings will be decided by their Duel score. The seeds will then battle it out for a place in the final in the same style as a traditional Series finals. If I have overlooked something with this, please tell me.
Enter away!
Current entrants:
Rhys 'Baxter' Benjamin
James 'Not Nguyen' Bradley
James 'Mental breakdown' Nguyen
Ollie 'Because you're not worth it' Garnier
Joseph 'Troll' Krol
Thomas 'Careless' Carey
Eoin 'Everyone's favourite leprechaun' Monaghan
Sophie 'The other one' Krol
Rob 'CANDICACY' Foster
Joe 'Unlimited' Denniss

Not in. Tournaments are rubbish only because I will lose all or most of my games and my rating will go down. What about a tournament for people rated under, say, 1100?

If you start turning down games to protect your rating, you'll never become good.

Seconded. I don't like losing rating points, but I'll play tournaments if they come up.

Also Sophie, the number of rating points you lose depends upon how good your opponent is. So a loss to Oliver or Eoin or James Nguyen will probably cost you 1 rating point at most. Plus if you enter and lose this time it will make it all the sweeter when you are next year's champion!

It's best just not to give a shit about your rating. It's very liberating.

Agreed. Now I've gotten used to the new interface and organising the players list in match quality rather than ratings I barely notice the ratings. It's still nice to move up places on pro ranks though.

Okay, back on track, since there's a good few under 17's on Pro Ranks who aren't on the forum or don't visit it that often (Giles Hutchings, Robert Pajab and Rob Foster sticking out), maybe you could use an announcement or something?

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced "nwang" so the joke revolved around "wang" being slang for penis, given what has been said before.

It's just pronounced "win" with the very slight hint of "n" before it, basically one syllable. Thanks.

Rob's entrance means that the bottom two seeds after the Duel will have to play each other, with the winner going through to the knock-out.

It's clearly nwang, I've told you already! Based solely on the fact that the poker player Scotty Nguyen has his name pronounced like that.

American commentators. Wait, are you suggesting American poker commentators wouldn't be reliable?

Also, they say "(n)win", I'm fairly sure, as that's how I learnt to say it myself! Unless they've changed pronunciation recently.

I pronounce it na-goo-yan. James 'Mental Breakdown' Nagooyan.

I pronounce it "Ngoyan". "ng" as in "song", "oy" as in "toy" and then the vowel from "could" followed by "n".
Looking at it again though it could be "eye" rather than "oy".

Ah you brits will never pronounce it correctly. That's how the foreigners(to Vietnam) pronounce it, because they simply cannot pronounce it like the viets.

Go for it - you just have to say how you think you'd pronounce it and then let everyone critique your efforts.
