Spoilers For Thursday March 24th 2011

Post by James Robinson »

So, here we are, a normal Thursday, like most weeks, or is it...... :?:

Well, the answer is a big, fat NO!

And it's for 2 reasons:

1. Andy McGurn has the chance of becoming an octochamp. Possibly the 4th already this series :!: 8-)

2. And more importantly (and I thank Marcus for informing me of this milestone :) ), today is Jeff and Rachel's 500th edition of Countdown. ;) :) :D  8-)

A very impressive milestone it is and one that deserves celebrating. :D

And I'll lead the celebrations later with the Robinson Recap. ;) :) :D

Susie is AWESOME! :) I assumed REFORMAT was the max and then she pulls that out of the hat 8-). Then another 9 - flake for Susie! I think Andy thought of it when the other bloke declared INTONED.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

YES! Well done Andy :) Can't wait to meet you and the other octochamps at the finals! Brilliant flourish on that final conundrum too ;)

I spotted TERRAFORM, but didn't think for one minute that it was actually a word. This is one advantage Susie has. Presuming that she had REFORMAT quickly, there was nothing to lose in looking up TERRAFORM, just on the off-chance. If it's in, it looks impressive, if not, nothing lost.

I happened to have TERRAFORM as a conundrum at one of my games at COLIN 2011, so lucky for me, but unlike back then, I spotted it this time. :D

COUVADE in round 12.

3rd Numbers Alt.: ((10 + 5) x 9 x 4) + 4 = 544

Anybody else notice that the conundrum was practically just the solution written backwards?

By my reckoning, it's only their 500th if you include the five specials they've recorded, so we can all celebrate again next Thursday!! :D

True, but they are regular 15-rounders, so why not count them :?:

Rhetorical question, I think. I can't be bothered to have those discussions about counting episodes/editions again!

Thanks Adam, Im looking forward to meeting you and the other finalists as well.

And thanks for the nice comments, Jojo, Eoin, Josh and others. I didn't expect to become an octochamp so it was a nice surprise to get there.
