I think I'm using IE8.
Sorry to hear about the burglary Charlie. Shall we all chip in so that you can get a burglar alarm?

No! I am perfectly aware of the difference between 'N' and 'Ñ' thanks.Chris Hare wrote: Maybe you Lexplorered OTONAREN instead?
Oh, undoubtedly. Similarly, I'm pretty clear about the distinction between left and right shoes, but that hasn't stopped me from trying to put them on the opposite feet on occasion.Karen Pearson wrote:No! Please don't get an alarm. Ever. And anyone else who has one dismantle it. All they do is go off randomly during the night and indeed day and keep me awake.Karen Pearson wrote:Sorry to hear about the burglary Charlie. Shall we all chip in so that you can get a burglar alarm?

He means that in R12 The Guardian didn't use the 6 as part of the solution. Hm, I thought they could. Does anyone understand this game I made?Steve Balog wrote:Yea, to elaborate, the Guardian's first step is 6x4=24, and then he uses the other 4 numbers to hit the target, just leaving that 24 there without actually doing it.
I assume that if the Guardian can get the solution with 4 or fewer numbers that aren't the red one, he can, in theory, just waste the red number in an operation outside the actual solution.
Can humans do this?

You may well have in a normal numbers game when doing this is valid, but not in a Lockdown numbers game. I believe Charlie shut this loophole down for human players very shortly after it was released (though i haven't checked recently) but the Guardian and Apterouses still occasionally cheat. I personally don't think it would make any sense to allow this for humans.Mark Deeks wrote:Steve Balog wrote:Yea, to elaborate, the Guardian's first step is 6x4=24, and then he uses the other 4 numbers to hit the target, just leaving that 24 there without actually doing it.

They can and I have.
I thought you originally could but then you changed it so you couldn't. I'm pretty sure I had a game where I tried to do it but wasn't allowed.Charlie Reams wrote:Hm, I thought they could. It's still a shame that this game can't be recognised as the highest joint score in Aegilops numbers.Adam Gillard wrote:Thanks so much for doing this Charlie! Sometimes it does that. It means that the Duellist is picking the final letter (rather than it being picked from the pile) and as far as I know, the Duellist picks for the best max, so it gives you a clue as to what to look out for.Julie T wrote:P.S. That's just the nature of the beast with the Duel, if you get disconnected or the game crashes then you just get blanked. Everyone loses a round to it occasionally.Jennifer Steadman wrote:My browser started lagging so badly during R3 of today's duel that after I entered a 6 (after about 5 seconds), I wasn't able to enter any more words, even though I saw a 7 during this time and tried to type it in. An error message then made me close the window, and when I reopened it it claimed I had entered a blank in R3. I don't suppose there's any way of rectifying this (unless it can be proved that I typed in a 7 during the lag - it did seem to register this, it just wouldn't let me enter it), but it's a bit annoying that I'll lose points because of it. If it was a normal game I wouldn't be so bothered, but I haven't been doing too badly in the Duel rankings this month and I'd like to keep it that way

Yea, scoring in starpath for Octorock numbers games with no way to score is weird. Like, you'll get 10 points or a point in stepdown/maxes scoring, but the Guardian doesn't. This happens most in rounds where the Guardian picks 5 small.Edwin Mead wrote:Apologies if this is a known bug:
