Spoilers For Wednesday February 2nd 2011

Post by James Robinson »

So, Dave gave us a few glimpses of his abilities yesterday, with an impressive 12-max game, nearly more famous for Thom's efforts as well as Dave's declaration in round 11.

As it is though, his opponent today will need to be on top form to oust him out of the champions' chair. Luckily, the challengers' chair is to be occupied by an Apteforumite today, but not just any Apteforumite......

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...... EDWARD McCULLAGH ;) :) :D  8-) (That's some nice pressure for you there, mate. ) Will he be able to dispose the champion from his throne :?:

Join me for the Robinson Recap later on. ;) :) :D  8-)

So we have in our hands a great contestant in every possible way and then apterous comes along and kills Countdown again.

Does the newNPower ad have a subtle nod to Countdown in it or is it me?

Great stuff Ed, nice to start with a ton. :) Your accent isn't bad! You hyped it up way too much, at times it was hard to tell you were a Nyuck. ;) Swish stuff anyway, and I look forward to tomorrow. I'll be tellin' the school possibly.

Also, Dave was a great player and definitely could have won a few more.

Excellent debut, Ed. REPLEVIN was awesome by DC and unlucky to Dave who could clearly play the game, especially at the numbers.

Good Debut Edward, did really well considering how good your opponent was. My favourite contestant of series 64 so far.

Bit careless of susie not to notice OPAQUEST when it was probably listed on the page she was looking at at the time of explaining OPAQUES.

Quality game. Dave was an octochamp-in-waiting had he not met such strong opposition. Well done Ed, good start. Nice to hear someone saying thanks to Jeff at the start for a change as well :) I concur with the comments about OPAQUEST, but I'll let Susie off having spotted REPLEVIN.

Cheers guys :D

After the first part, I was thinking "God, this is so easy!" Two rounds later, and I'm absolutely bricking it, though I got lucky that Dave went with unquotes in round 8.

It was a very good game - Dave was about to pounce on the conundrum too but I just nicked in there in time.

Surprised no-one has picked up on "accidenty" yet :?

Well played. This might have been asked before, but was your apterous photo taken shortly after the incident with the paramedic?

I'd genuinely always thought it was like fancy dress for Halloween or something. How very embarrassing.

Out of interest, when was today's game recorded? Just wondering if it was round the middle of December.

BTW - good game today - two quality players. At the start I wondered if Ed was going to do to Dave what Dave did to his opponent yesterday, pipping him by one on most of the rounds.

Thanks Marcus. It was only while I was watching Ed squash Dave in the first few rounds that I realised Ben's post might have been a clue that Dave hadn't managed to get into the finals. Up till then, I thought ctochampdom beckoned for Dave.
