I'm a Yorkshireperson and I have an interest in the Tube; am I still allowed to patake in discussions?

TBH, I'm fine wallowing around in Burger King and piss and sweat, while roasting to death in the boiling heat.

When I go to London and use the undergound, however annoying it ever is, it's always at least 50,000 times better than the overground service where I live.

My only complaint about it is that in some places there are no escalators, only stairs, which is no help when you've got a massive suitcase to lug around.

Not strictly related to travelling on the tube, but I love Harry Beck's tube map design, and other artwork inspired by it. The tube map is one of a very limited number of things which make London seem magical and romantic for me (another being Ray Davies' "Waterloo Sunset").

You can tell on the map which stations are step-free, they have a blue circle.

Take Pinner. There are now lifts, which no one uses.

7/7? I thought you normally rate things out of 10.

7/7 = 1. But really, you should do your own homework.

Oh, well since we're using odd scoring systems, I'd probably give them 9/11.

10/10 for this.

As for 7/7, maybe if they'd done it in winter it would have saved on heating bills.

I have latched onto a possible world record for this.

No, I will not say how to do it, all I will say is that the East London no-line helps.

Done some Market research, including interchange times - 46 minutes, beating the record by approx 8 minutes.

Any plans for doing the full network? From where (I think) you live in London, you'd be quite close to a Chesham/Amersham start.

The North Harrow - West Harrow run I can do easily because that's where I live and I know there like the back of my hand (running past the only fake shop in the world!)

Otherwise, I haven't thought about it much. I'll probably have a go at the All Lines first before I start thinking about this.

You could try the Alphabet next, as it involves knowledge of the Harrow area (due to the requirement of visiting Ickenham) and otherwise can mainly be done by using Zone 1. Though to be honest my input is probably worthless.

I've been to several model villages that might take umbrage with that claim.

How about:

Aldgate - Bank - Chancery Lane - Dollis Hill - Eastcote - Finchley Road - Great Portland Street - Harrow-on-the-Hill (even-though-it's-at-the-bottom-of-the-hill-and-I-have-to-climb-the-hill-every-day-just-to-get-to-school) - Ickenham (through Uxbridge train helps here) - Kings Cross - Liverpool Street - Moorgate - Notting Hill Gate - Oxford Circus - Piccadilly Circus - Queensway - Regent's Park - St. John's Wood - Tottenham Court Road - Upney - Victoria - Westminster.

Simples

Estimated time: 6 hours, 19 minutes

Yeah the D is quite annoying. Would personally replace Uxbridge with Upney.

Just checked, Upton Park is better than Upney (by 3 stops). St Paul's might be better than St John's Wood, also.

Not strictly LU-related but I have just completed the GTA IV Subway Challenge and as far as I know have the second fastest time ever with 25 min 11.81 sec. I probably have the best possible time on my current route so will need a better route to get the record. Youtube video soon to follow.

My starting destination was Farringdon. After helping a lost tourist, I took a Hammersmith & City Line train to Barbican, whereupon I changed for a Metropolitan Line, waiting for 4 minutes. . At Moorgate (thank you for car number and door number) the change to the Northern Line was smooth, getting a train just as it pulled in. I got off at Bank.

If you've ever been on the Waterloo & City Line, then it feels like it is in Paris - it is so far away from the rest of the station. There was a train on the platform, but it remained there for a few minutes - meaning I had spent 6 minutes at Bank. At Waterloo, there was, again, a long walk to the Jubilee Line, where I got for 1 stop to Westminster - and took the stairs (so I beat the crowd! :D ) and the Circle Line to St. James' Park was smooth. At St James' Park, the 2 most antagonising minutes of my life took shape as I began to focus a bit more on the times. Finally the Richmond train came in.

Crowds at Victoria were not as bad as I have seen in the past, but it was still pretty bad. We all crowded onto the train to Green Park. Then a ticket inspector showed up, meaning I had to waste time fumbling around with my Oyster and not get to the door I wanted (I had got on 1 door too early), wasting valuable seconds. Still, there was quite a quick run to the Piccadilly Line, where I got onto the platform with 1 min to a train. To the Bakerloo Line to Oxford Circus, then I took the first central Line train that came. Unfortunately, it was rush hour by then.

I raced my family from Watford High Street (overground) to West Harrow, with them in a car and me on the tube ;-)

142 to Stanmore station
Southbound Jubilee Line to Wembley Park
Metropolitan Line to West Harrow.
