Anyone fancy a trip to Leeds?

To answer the question above, I would personally say no, purely for football reasons. :x

But this is not for that so-called reason.

After discussions with forumites and Apterites, some people have said that some of the locations for Co-events are in the isolated regions of the UK, especially after talking to people who may or may not miss CoLin next month for that particular reason.

So, just for theoretical reasons at the moment, how many people would be interested in attending a Co-event, if it was held in Countdown's spiritual home of Leeds, which is one of the more accessible places around the country.

I'm just asking purely to see if there would be a high enough level of interest.

I would definitely be interested in hosting such an event, if interest is high and clashing with other Co-events doesn't become an issue.

I have a venue in mind (would've liked the Galpharm in Huddersfield, but's that clearly not practical), so let's here what everyone has to say.

Look forward to hearing from as many people as possible. ;) :) :D

Wait, since when was Leeds not an isolated part of the country?

I'd be up for it, I guess, especially if it's run by the king of efficiency James R. Robinson.

Hope this does end up happening, Leeds seems easy enough for me to get to so I'd be more than keen to go if it did.

Not a career I'd stick with, if I'm honest. Surely you must have higher aspirations than that.

Leeds isn't that easy to get to for me but again I'd do my best if James was running it.

There's nothing wrong with London. There's also nothing wrong with James A. Robinson. We'd come just because, we love this shit so much we'd attend Co'Groats.

I would attend a Co event pretty much anywhere in England so location isn't a massive factor for me althoug Leeds is by far the best location so far in terms of closeness and also I have a number of friends in Leeds so would make for a good Saturday night.

Where were you :?: If you went on the A644, you'd have had a very good chance of passing my house. 8-)

Count me in. If you get the venue and date sorted in time, I'll be more than happy to give you a few minutes at COLIN so you can plug it. :)

I drove past Cooper Bridge over towards Dewsbury. I'll wave if I go that way again :p

Damn, count me out. Only kidding, I'd love to. Plus, there's loads of Transpennine Expresses that run throughout the night from Manchester Airport, through Leeds, to York so clubbing after is an option - just gotta make sure I don't win any prizes lol!!

Oooh, thanks, Ben. Maybe you could also give me some guidance on how to organise a successful tournament, as you've done CoLin for so long.

If this goes ahead I'll probably go if it's on a day when I have nothing planned (any day when I'm not at school)

Well, if it does go ahead, it certainly won't be on a weekday.

Add me James. Really wanted to go to Lincoln but would've required flights and buses/trains and probably an extra night of accommodation what we me being from Ireland. Leeds would be much handier.

Is it likely to be central Leeds or the towns around it?

As I've said previously, my dream would be to hold it inside the Galpharm, but that'll probably be too expensive, too hard to reach, and make it too football dominated probably.

My venue of choice is within walking distance of Leeds train station, but as I haven't given the place a check over yet, it's still in the early planning stages at the moment. So, it could still be a dead end.

Remember, this is not confirmed yet that I'm doing it, so I don't want to put everyone's hopes up yet, although if it will happen, based on when all the other events will take place, it will probably be near to the end of the year. 8-)

Is there still a possibility that this will go ahead at some stage? I hesitate to say 'I'd like a trip to Leeds' but it's certainly a convenient location for me.

Definitely possible, although most likely to be held near the end of the year, so as not to clash or be too close with any other.

Not at all, I'm actually still at square 1 in truth, as my 1st choice for a suitable venue is a no-go, so if anyone could suggest to me a good place in the Leeds area, I'll give it the once over. ;) :) :D

I'm not entirely convinced Wakefield is a good venue for much at all!

James, I'm not sure on the situation with my old rugby club in Leeds, but I believe it's recently been done up and rebranded as a community club (i.e. open for hire?). This means that there are now decent kitchen facilities, and the old function room upstairs could be ideal for this sort of thing if it's available. The place is East Leeds club on Easy Road, not far from the town centre. Might be worth a look!

When you bumped this was the topic not already bumped by Ian's post or did you not see it? Because if not I think that's pretty spooky how you both posted in this thread that was last posted in in April within 1 minute of each other.

The real question on everyone's lips is whether or not the venue would be close to BoxPizza.

And if you want to make an announcement, I'm sure there's some event happening before the end of the month at which you can nick a couple of seconds. :)

Well, I might disappoint you on that front, Ben.

But, if the tour of the facilities I'm having tomorrow morning is indeed productive, then I might make an announcement at COLIN.

I think you'll all be excited. 8-)
