Wow Innis is totally - what's the technical term - I believe it's "pwning" his division!

Division B result: Adam Gillard 2 - 0 Tom Rowell

Adam Gillard 110 - 107 Tom Rowell

This first game was a corker. Tom pulled ahead as I started slowly, only managing an ode to ROWELS in R2. Then I picked VERONIQUE which got me back in it. I didn't win a single one of the next 9 rounds, which left Tom with a 25-point lead going into the penultimate letters round. Once again I picked an unanswered 9 (UNDERFELT). Then we both got the 4th nine of the game (I spotted it at the last second), leaving 7 points in it going into the (possibly) final conundrum. It took me over 5 seconds, but I just edged what was a cracking contest. Tom just missed out despite posting a Personal Best.

Adam Gillard 93 - 54 Tom Rowell

This one wasn't as exciting. We each won a few letters rounds, the best words in my opinion being ANTIPHON (pencil) for me and PAYSAGE for Tom. I got all 3 conundrums this time though, so it wasn't as close as it might have been.

Thanks for the games Tom!

Yeh I've got it, which kind of explains its omission from the list of unplayed games.

I don't think I've played Tom from round whatever though. I got confused when Ryan made me play our game from another round and never completely got de-confused.

Kai Laddiman 101 - 66 Ben Hunter

The better of the two games, the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Kai Laddiman 83 - 67 Ben Hunter

Nice pencil for Ben in R14.

Tom Rowell 2 - 1 Jim Bentley

Jim Bentley 93 - 87 Tom Rowell

This is the first game I've won in the tournament. Could this be the start of something?

Jim Bentley 66 - 93 Tom Rowell
Jim Bentley 59 - 80 Tom Rowell

Nah.

Well played Tom!

Dinos 2 - 0 Eoin

Here are the games:

Eoin 70 - 85 Dinos

After Eoin's BOUVIERS in round 1 I thought I was in for a pasting as I failed to kick into gear on the letters. Luckily I managed to scoop 30 points on the conundrums. Unlucky Eoin.

Dinos 107 - 85 Eoin

It was Eoin who took the first 2 conundrums here. Although he had a goldfish moment missing SECEDE which popped up in the last game (and in the COLEI final) Eoin took the lead again with BAILMENT but then his pick for VERIFIES backfired as I took a punt on VERSIFIES which got me my 2nd pencil in a row and sealed the game. Cheers Eoin :)

Seeing as the remaining games don't look like they're going to be played, I'll post the results on Sunday. Sorry about my poor hosting skillz, but I hope everyone's enjoyed Goatblitz 2010 :)

I didn't think it was poor hosting Kai, I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for organising it. :)

Sorry about my last game, admittedly I haven't really made any effort to arrange it.

Thanks for running everything Kai, we could always do with more tournaments on Apterous, and there's been absolutely nothing wrong with your hosting. Cheers!

I've not chased Hugh either again either. Thanks for the tourney! Seems a strange lack of energy about it from the players involved though. Why, I wonder, do some tourneys seem to get everyone particularly enthused, and some not?

In hindsight I think there should have been fewer rounds, as everyone's interest dwindled towards the end. I'll give you a 1-0 win for that one Ian.

Nah, your hosting skillz were fine Kai, it was the lackadaisicalness of some of the players (myself included) that slowed things down. Sorry 'bout that. Cheers for organising though!

Kai, well done on hosting the tournament. I also think it went well. However, I was under the impression that Division A and B were going to play each other. Volante suggested it and you replied: "Actually that's a good idea. Maybe the winner of A plays the winner of B, runner-up of A plays runner-up of B, etc." I suppose that never came to fruition.

Sorry, I forgot about that, but now I'm going away til Friday. I'll post the divisional results and I'll do the next part once I get back.
