Growing old

Post by George F. Jenkins »

I thought that I will show you young blokes what it's like to grow old.
this me sixteen years old, 1944 in my National fire service messenger uniform. In theory, we were supposed to act as messengers if the telephone system was destroyed. Regretfully, I didn't have to carry any messages, and used to help the Firemen, and those hose pipes were heavy.Image

Great stuff George! Well done on working out how to post photos and that, you claim to be all old and fuddy duddy but I'm sure you're making granddads the world over jealous with your internet skillz.

Nice to see you as a rosy-cheeked youngster too. I feel old already looking at the old young you. :)

Thank you for your advice Matt. I put those photos on for practice, and to show you young blokes what you've got coming in fifty years time.

I love getting older. It's a massive improvement on the alternative. I really do sincerely mean this! 8-)

Don't be so hard on Charlie Gavin, I'm sure that he will mellow as he gets older and gains more experience of life. Just like we all did.

I'm happy every morning when I wake up Andy, and not dead like my Doctor said I will soon be.

A sad day today, I've lost my honourable position of being the oldest member on the forum. I'm 82, but new member Richard Snelling is 83. Now I'm just one of the mob.

Give it a few weeks and you'll probably be able to reclaim it.

Haha, you're excellent George. Although, how do you know his age? As far as I can see it's not mentioned on his profile. Is he your best friend in real life?
