After three months in exile I have internet back in my room. I planned to celebrate by joining a goatblitz tournament and I'm going to stick by it.

Are you using Goatdown ratings or standard ones?

Hi, I'm Kai Laddiman. You may remember me from such TV programmes as Countdown and GMTV
Troy McClure?

Thanks. I'm not sure whether I'll get enough entrants for 4 groups, so I'll decide when more people join.

Since I don't play Goatdown that often, my rating is only 1268, and thus I will probably end up playing one of the better players and get knocked out.

You gotta beat the best to be the best.

Maybe using normal ratings would be better, given how odd the Goatdown ratings are for some (a lot of?) players — Goatdown's hardly different enough for people to be good at it but hopeless at the normal game, or vice versa.

P.S. I'll play whether I can use my goatdown rating or not.

I'll be in.
You should use standard ratings, as goatdown ratings can be highly inaccurate, because it gets played much less.

Aye, the Goatdown rating list is bizarre. I think my rating (1086, 76th) is about right, cos I'm shit at it, but Edward McCullagh's (957, 102nd) makes no sense at all, as he's very good at it. On the other hand, I'd definitely fancy my chances against Susan Ahluwalia (2033, 3rd).

Anyway, I'm in!

I'm going to have 2 divisions of 7 or 8 with Division A consisting of the 7 or 8 highest rated entrants and Division B consisting of the other entrants. The games will then be played on a round robin basis, so everyone in the group plays everyone. Each round will last a week. I'm going to play too, so there are 2 more spaces available. I'll start this tomorrow, so hurry if you still want to join!

Have fun everyone! :)

I have a feeling James Doohan is going to quote my post from the correct thread to try to make me look stupid. Don't be fooled by his shenanigans!

Adam Gillard was meant to post our results but it looks like he was too ashamed to admit defeat. I can't find the games now but I won both of them, one by a record-breaking margin and one where I got about eight pencils and an egg.

Adam and I appear to have different opinions on how our games turned out. Since he posted in the correct thread I'll trust his judgement on the scores too.

Whoever's top of each division wins, unless you want something else.

I wasn't sure if there was a knockout involving both groups, or whatever. Secondary group winner seems a bit, well, secondary. Not that I expect to keep winning.

Actually that's a good idea. Maybe the winner of A plays the winner of B, runner-up of A plays runner-up of B, etc. I'm not sure, what do others think?

More logical surely would be top of B plays bottom of A, etc in a straight seeded knockout? Obviously the top people in A will win, but this gives the lower players a chance of decent progression

Sounds good. Hopefully bottom of B wouldn't mind.

Managed to snatch victory form the jaws of defeat against Edward, three really close games, It's a shame Edward didn't win, as I thought he played better.

Edward 112-92 Jack
Edward 102-109 Jack
Edward 87-103 Jack

James 2 - 1 Dinos

After a few impressive words in the first game I managed to nosedive in the tail end of the battle. All 3 were crucial games. WP James :)

James 79 - 91 Dinos
Dinos 101 - 116 James
