COC14 Petition

by Robert Baxter
I did hear, somewhere, that COC 14 could be out at the start of next year :D . Damian, is this true? :?: BTW, here's a reasonable lineup  :

1) Kirk Bevins v Series 63 runner-up :D
2) Jimmy Gough v Series 63 champ
3) Chris Davies v Nicki Sellars 8-)
4) Andrew Hulme v Oliver Garner :o

SF:

Heat 1 v Heat 4
Heat 2 v Heat 3

GF:
SF1 v SF2

Now, who's with me, and Damian, are the rumours true?

Well, COC10 had 6! I might do another with 16. Why IS Damian reluctant to do it? :?:

Or.....
1) Kirk Bevins v Series 63 first semi-finalist
2) Jimmy Gough v Series 63 second semi-finalist
3) Neil Zussman v Series 63 runner-up
4) Hamish Williamson v Series 63 winner
5) Chris Davies (Series 61) v Lee Graham
6) Andrew Hulme v Craig Chittenden
7) Innis Carson v Nicki Sellars
8) Ryan Taylor v Oliver Garner

Adequate?

FTW Damian hasn't posted for several months now and has got on the flouncy castle.
This was IMO due to a combination of misrepresentation, shit stirring and stubbornness.
I do wish he'd come back though, even using a pseudonym.

No sure which is more likely to get given the go ahead out of CofC 14, or your weird formula countdown fantasy. I for one would prefer to see the latter.

Maybe Apterous could set up it's own version.

Why :?:
Because watching formula one racers pit their wits against in each other in a battle of lexicon and arithmetic would be much more entertaining than watching contestants who I had seen on the show before.

Haha. Remember the abuse I got when I started here? I bet you'd rather have ten Original MWMs for every one of these Robert Baxter knobs.
It's totally mental how deluded some people can be, coming to a forum and acting like this and thinking it's ok and will win them respect and friends.
He's not even from Ukrania.

This is the guy that's made up Countdown games with F1 drivers. He's already earnt our respect so now he can do what he wants.

Hear, hear, let's get the big showdowns on in C of C 14, we've already had big letdowns in boxing with the big showdowns eg. Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Haye vs the Klitschkos... going up the spout. Don't let Countdown be another casualty. I would make Kirk slight favourite over Chris, with Innis as the dangerman opponent who could topple both of them... It makes for some exciting showdowns and TV viewing. :)

C'mon Damian, sir, you know it makes sense. 8-)

If all else fails, maybe we can bribe him ;)

Yes, because everyone, (even you) says consonant like con-sin-ent, not con-son-ant.

And con-sin-ent, without the hyphens, magically transforms to continent?

wtf? Most people pronounce it (even me) con-sun-unt as that's how it's pronounced....if you pronounce it con-son-ant then you're just a con-sun-unt with some letters missing in the middle.

Apparently the joke is that the epenthetic /t/ between the /n/ and the /s/ can be mistaken for a "real" /t/ with some affrication (I've definitely seen contestants on the show who speak dialects that have this feature), and the reduced vowels /ɨ/ and /ə/ sound pretty similar. Linguistic fieldwork time: do those of you who say con-so-nant say "prince" and "prints" differently? For me, they are homophones.

But what I notice more often is people asking for a "consonance," possibly for the same phonological reason. (And then I imagine a piano appearing where the letters board should be and Rachel saying, "OK, here's a perfect fifth." "And another…and a dissonance…") Maybe those contestants are confused and think they're on a musical show called Counterpointdown?

Definitely different, prints I say as I would say "prinz" in German, feels like a glottal stop.
