Nice to see humble Dinos not showing he was happy at beating Kai in the numbers.

QUODLIBET, who got it?
Edit: Lexplorered it, James Doohan and Kirk missed it, so they may have got it.
Edit Edit: Innis got it. (Shocker, he hasn't been ion long enough to have seen it before.)

Haha. Spat out my coffee there when you checked Kai's word Dinos! Interestingly enough on the previous round, lexplorer has tushies, but not tushie.

Ditto...I was sat next to Chris Davies in the audience and after the first 7 letters I was like "S and I for SLEEPSUIT" (or whatever the last two letters were) and out they popped. Quite brilliant.Josh Hurst wrote:OUTJIES r11. SLEEPSUIT made me the happiest I've been in years.

One of the most enjoyable games in years. Very fun to watch, no competitiveness whatsoever. Bit of showing off Kai (although with a GCSE in Maths I'm sure you're allowed to do it.)
Brilliant fun. And the return of the hug!

It may have begun with shows of bravado and ended with pomposity but that was a really nice game guys, well done and thanks a mil! Your hug was lovely at the end too. Have any contestants hugged at the end before?

Smashing game.
Played in a lovely spirit.
I loved the hug. (It caused me to "aaww" out loud; it reminded me of Jon and Charlie - apart from the heights.)

Re: Spoilers for Mini Mischief Madness Mega Mayhem (August 2nd)
Cheers everyone for all the kind comments. I thought there might have been a few cringeworthy moments but Damian seems to have done a good job at editing out my ugly side!
We both just went into the game wanting to enjoy it although I'd forgotten how daunting it is being in that chair and the competitive urge just takes you over again! Was a pleasure to play against Kai who spotted just about every winner just after the declarations AIRLINER OUTJIES... and in hindsight it's a good job I went for bravadoes^ as unlike me Kai also had SEABOARD written down!
As soon as SLEEPSUIT emerged I positively exploded trying to contain my excitement. I was very lucky for Kai not to spot it and feel he outdone me throughout the rest of the game with GRATIFY and the conundrum and all that, but as I said we were just there to have fun
And FFS how did we both miss QUODLIBET! Unforgivable!

Re: Spoilers for Mini Mischief Madness Mega Mayhem (August 2nd)
Haha yep was just about to mention that. There was a debate about this in Countmax Errors the week after I recorded. I'm sure if we're allowed 2 braised fennels we can order 2 duck confits as well, although maybe Susie felt sorry for me being on zero after 2 rounds and let it slide!Karen Pearson wrote:Oh, and there's nothing wrong with CONFITS Kirk.

Re: Spoilers for Mini Mischief Madness Mega Mayhem (August 2nd)
Yes, a really fun game to watch - thanks to everyone involved, but particularly Dinos & Kai. Great stuff.
I muttered 'quodlibet' to myself, but thought it was spelt with an A. Twerp. I should have known. The most famous one (probably) is the one from Bach's Goldberg Variations, which I've tried to play. And failed on that too.

Great stuff. Good work going 6 small at the end (I was hoping you would). Has someone updated the hug leaderboard yet?
It does have TUSHY, though...Andy Wilson wrote:Interestingly enough on the previous round, lexplorer has tushies, but not tushie.

Ah of course. I was at a music festival on Saturday and then working til 6.30 am this morning so am pretty knackered today. Never even thought of that. Pretty cheeky attempt from Dinos nonetheless
Is it a bank holiday in England today?

Thoroughly enjoyed watching it again today. Well done both of you. Played in great spirit.
And no, Andy, it's not a bank holiday in England. It changed from first to last Monday in August some time ago, maybe even 50 years back.

Without doubt the best game of Countdown ever. It's made me and BC so very smiley and happy. Nuff said. Loved it.

Thought I'd mentioned, during the credits roll on 4oD you can see Dinos and Kai getting up to no good, something which was obscured by an advert during the actual broadcast. Worth a watch

Re: Spoilers for Mini Mischief Madness Mega Mayhem (August 2nd)
BACK FROM HOLIDAY
After listening to Huddersfield's brilliant 3-0 win over Notts County today, I thought the day couldn't get any better.
But, soon as I put on the sky+, I was well hooked into this brilliant game. A brilliant game start to finish. The atmosphere was just perfect for this match, and the added bonus of having the legendary SLEEPSUIT thrown into the mix just made it even more of a spectacle. (I must admit that when I saw it, I wanted to punch Kai for not trying for another P for SEPTUPLES, but seeing the I for SLEEPSUIT more than made up for it. )
That puts my kids special from 6 (7) years ago right into touch.
Well done, Kai and Dinos, althought I think that Countdown is the real winner for the excitement that that one game produced.
Only downside was having to wait 5 whole days to see this brilliant match.
