Hello, first time poster here!
I'm making something for a school assembly and wondered what font is used on the letters and numbers cards?
Thanks in advance!
Rob

Hello Rob,
Countdown has used many fonts for their tiles. The current font they use is in the Futura family, but I don't know the exact name of it, as I've tried to find it myself

. This site offers all the fonts available in the
Futura family. These are commercial fonts though, so you would have to buy them.
If money is no option, I found a similar font and purcahsed a 3.5" set of stencils (A-Z only) from a company called
Stencil Warehouse, which cost me £41.13 (although I picked the wrong size and can not return them as I've used them

).
Hope this helps
Joseph.

Okay thanks a lot!
I'll have to make do with the closest one I can find!
Thanks again.

I can confirm that the font used for the letters/numbers on our dear little daytime quiz show is Futura Md in bold.

Many thanks indeed for clearing this up Kate

.
Out of curiosity, how did youse acquire the font? That link I provided above for example, lists loads of Futura fonts, but none actually matches the Coutdown letters/numbers font you use.

Hi Joseph.
It goes either by the name ‘Futura Medium’ or, more usually, ‘Futura Md’. It’s a commercially available to buy on a fonts disk. However, you might be able to download it for free...

I'm surprsied they didn't just make the letters, without having to consult a list of named fonts.

If the stencils are custom made, then they might've had to use a font already in existence instead of coming up with their own.
Countdown originally used the font
Egyptienne which were gray tiles yellow letters, then they moved onto the blue tiles, white letters, with the Futura font. There have been 2 other sets made that I know of. A purple tile, white lettering in the font
Century Gothic and also apparently in series 19 I think it was, there was a red tile, white letter set too, but not sure of the font.
EDIT: Also Calendar Countdown I believe used black tiles, white lettering with the font Arial?

"you" is a far better word.
