I have a family friend who is Scottish, and she says that they have never even heard of cereal in Scotland. However, one of my co-workers at my current job is from England and she says they do have cereal in England.

I know they have Cheerios, but what other kinds of cereal do they have?

To name but a few classics:

Cornflakes
Rice Krispies
Shreddies
Sugar Puffs
Carol Vorderman Breakfast Experience
Coco Pops
Weetabix
Ready Brek
Frosties
Weetos
Honey Nut Loops

There are also many health cereals including
Special K
Fitnesse
All Bran
Optivita

and I'm sure your Scottish friend has heard of Porridge Oats.
Just out of interest Jason, what do you do in your work?

I don't think your friend means they literally haven't heard of cereal just that porridge is the proper thing to eat so they deny the existence of Frosties. I reckon if you question her daily on the matter (and perhaps write a few inquisitive poems) the truth will prevail.

We do have "Cheerios" but we use them mainly to save drowning insects and don't actually eat them. They're made from sawdust and aardvark spittle, you know.
