The

4. Joseph Bolas
The closing date is
Wednesday teatime (subject to change). I cannot reveal
how many questions each person has got right and
which ones they have got right otherwise it would
spoil it for others who want to test their general knowledge. Any other forumites who want a go, I urge you to answer the set questions
independently as some of the answers given so far by the above 4 people have been incorrect

I answered mostly c's, which apparently makes me: "a Downtown Diva! Your style is urban and hip. You're always on top of the trends, and you're a complete city girl at heart (whether you live in a tiny town or NYC). You always look chic, and though you're always in style, you aways stand out from the rest. Other downtown divas: Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston."

Corby is, undouvtedly, a legend, and his answer, in my eyes, makes him the smartest person here.

Decent attempts by Dinos and Kevin

. Here is the
current leaderboard as it currently stands (I cannot reveal everyones percentages until tomorrow night);
1. Kevin Thurlow
2. Ben Pugh
3. Paul Howe
4. Jim Bentley
5. Joseph Bolas
6. Dinos_the_Chemist
So as you can see,
Kevin has taken the leaderboard by storm by getting
one more question correct than Ben and thereby leapfrogging him to gain top spot! For the benefit of any late entrants to the quiz, you have until
tomorrow at 6pm to submit your answers or amended answers to the forum. I have to say that based on the current scorings, this quiz has been more
difficult than I thought it would be. Excellent.

So any late forumites who wish to have a go I
strongly urge you
not to copy some of the answers given and work
independently.
N.B. A new quiz will be posted into this thread on thursday night with a "Who wants to be a millionaire?" style format. In addition, a brand new conundrum alphabet will be posted in the Conundrum Alphabet section found in the "General" thread on the same evening.

I don't particularly like this quiz because I find that a lot of the questions pertain to quite obscure and useless knowledge, but I think it is good of you to put the effort into making the quiz, and I am going to make one myself in a new thread, an easier quiz than this.

After a relatively successful first quiz, I have decided to put together another quiz but this time with a "
Who wants to be a millionaire?" style
format. The questions cover a wide range of topics and
vary in difficulty (questions 1-5 being fairly easy and questions 10 onwards being more difficult). Each question is
multiple choice with each answer being A,B,C or D. Please post your answers in the example format shown below (these are not necessarily the correct answers!)
1. A
2. B
3. C
4. D
5. A
All questions
must be attemped or guessed and the forumite with the
most consecutive correct answers from question 1 without any incorrect answers in between, wins the game. Please
do not leave any
blank spaces. You
do not win for the most correct answers so
every question is vital. Unfortunately, you have no lifelines as this would over-complicate things

enjoy my second quiz instalment and

Did Magellan get home safely?
No, for he was killed in a fight with islanders in the Philippines. He died on 27 April 1521 on Mactan Island, Cebu, the Philippines.
So although he had masterminded the first expedition to sail around the world, he did not complete the voyage himself. In fact, the first person to sail around the world was a Malaysian, who had travelled back to Europe with Magellan many years earlier. Later, he accompanied Magellan as an interpreter on the circumnavigation.

Well there is certainly an
improvement on peoples last scores

In terms of
consecutively correct answers from question 1,
no-one has got beyond
round 7. But in terms of
total correct answers,
three forumites have scored
10 or more out of 15 - which is excellent general knowledge

.
I will reveal the answers on Tuesday evening (after a gruelling GCSE Latin exam
) and will confirm the all-important scores

Not this time Joseph. Because if I reveal the 3 people who have scored more than ten
now, people are
more likely to sponge off their intelligence and
steal their answers. Therefore, I have decided
not do a
current leaderboard which will make it more interesting!

I prefer the original format, it seems fairer. For example, I did shit from Question 6 onwards but technically still beat DoD because he got question 5 wrong, even though I'm sure he got more questions right than me. Maybe do a non-WWTBAM multiple-choice format.

Who wants to be a millionaire leaderboard

Here is the final
two leaderboards for my "WWTBAM" type quiz. The number of correct answers has increased which is a good sign to me. Thanks to all who took part
The
first table is for the number of
correct answers out of
15 (which goes against the show's format but oh well

) The standard of answers was
so close that everyone who took part has drawn with someone else!;
J1. Ben Pugh 12
J1. David O'D 12
J3. Stewart 10
J3. Kevin 10
J5. Joseph 8
J5. Howard 8
J7. Richard 7
J7. Dinos 7
The
second table is the round in which eah player would have got up to before getting an
incorrect answer which therefore would knock them out
J1. Ben Pugh Round 7
J1. Kevin Thurlow Round 7
J3. Stewart Scott Round 6
J3. Richard Brittain Round 6
J5. Dinos_the_chem' Round 5
J5. David O'Donnell Round 5
J5. Howard Somerset Round 5
7. Joseph Bolas Round 4
So the overall winner is
Ben Pugh as he got the joint number of answers correct and also got the furthest in the game by answering the most consecutively correct from question 1. Well done Ben
Watch out for my next quiz which will be posted in this thread very shortly. For people like Joseph who keep coming last, this is the sort of quiz that may interest you

Re: Unanimous

Hello again forumites. I have decided to make up my own quiz format for this new quiz which I have called
Unanimous. Forumites will
not be working
individually but instead as a
team to uncover the
correct answer to
25 multiple choice questions.
Players will answer questions 1-25 in a
list format with the answer being
either A,B,C or D. Players
must attempt
all questions. I will then add up the
quantity of A,B,C and D answers to
each question and work out the overall
unanimous answer from the forum. After the closing date, I will show a list of the forum's unanimous answers just before revealing the real answers. If there is an answer with the
same quantity e.g. 3 people say "A" and 3 people say "B", then the forum will be awarded a
half mark if the correct answer is A or B.
Forumites may
steal others answers however you are risking copying the
incorrect answer which will then possibly give you an
incorrect unanimous answer. Players may
confer amongst themselves within the forum and you can try to persuade others that your answer is the correct one if you are definite. However, I still strongly urge
independent thinking from players especially on the latter questions as people would probably be guessing answers at this stage anyway.
Please
do not cheat in scouring for the answers by using any form of
secondary data resources which will help you get the correct answer. Please use your own knowledge.
I hope you
enjoy this new quiz and if you are
unsure of any of the rules please ask me

.

I'll have a go and like Howard, I'll try to say how sure or not I am of my answers (of course, the mind works in a funny way, so things I think I know are true sometimes turn out to be false):
1. A (100% sure)
2. A (100% sure)
3. D (100% sure)
4. C (fairly sure)
5. C (fairly sure)

15. D
16. A (100% sure)
17. B
18. B
19. D (fairly sure)
20. C
21. C (fairly sure)
22. D (fairly sure)
23. B (fairly sure)
24. A (fairly sure)
25. C
Good quiz this, Jason. Nice one!
[edited] 'cos I've just noticed I put B for 24, when I knew it was A and meant to put A. I am an idiot.
