Spoilers For Thursday July 8th 2010

Post by James Robinson »

Thursday has arrived and we are already on the brink of having our 2nd octochamp of the series. Amazing to think that the 2nd octochamp of the last series only came a couple of months ago.

But, can Ryan Loughborough put himself in position to fight for his octochamp berth tomorrow, or will he fall at the 7th hurdle today :?:

I'll be back with the Robinson Recap later on. ;) :) :D

Can we ask Danny Pledger to confirm this? I doubt it is true.

OMG I could listen to Doug Elkins all day.

Also, just how many more colours does Ryan have them t-shirts in?

Seriously cannot believe it. He does so well on the letters rounds that this is so disappointing to see. He could be consistently getting 100's in his shows but for his numbers.

Dyscalculia or something? It's genuinely really hard to get my head round what's going on here otherwise!

Could understand someone who clearly is pretty clever being so shit at the numbers game if they hadn't done any maths at all in years, but Ryan has played hundreds of games on apterous, and you'd think that mere exposure to several hundred numbers games would be enough for literally anybody to pop out 516 without much of a sweat.

His first game sets the standard: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=13604 ;)

Very good run from Ryan all things considered. Will be interesting to see if he does any practice before the finals - this suggests 'no'. :(

Disapointed Ryan didn't win the full eight as he seemed a decent guy that didn't take it to seriously. Off the top of my head I would have thought six wins would get you into most series finals, but with the number of high end apterites rumoured to be appearing soon maybe there will be a lot of octochamps this time around.

Ryan really could have won that. He finished only 14 behind, and all those disallowed words probably cost him more than that. I know it's easy to say with hindsight, but it's a good example of why you shouldn't just start declaring v. unlikely words if you fall behind.
