It's always fun when you make up a random word and it turns out to be in. Here's my favourite example.
A group for contestants and lovers of the Channel 4 game show 'Countdown'.

I'll have to start playing more variants.Ryan Taylor wrote:Because it's a conundrum.Liam Tiernan wrote:Why no pencil? No longer alternative is given.Chris Davies wrote:I completely made up this word.
Not really, he just couldn't pronounce it.Gavin Chipper wrote:I remember Paul Gallen getting SUNDRIES thinking of SUN-DRIES. That was a bit jammy.
That's not how I remember it.Kirk Bevins wrote:Not really, he just couldn't pronounce it.Gavin Chipper wrote:I remember Paul Gallen getting SUNDRIES thinking of SUN-DRIES. That was a bit jammy.
I remember letting that through on the basis that I liked it, rather than that I thought it was remotely fair. Certainly not the only example of that, either.Chris Davies wrote:I completely made up this word.
Was this http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/COYPUS what you were thinking of?Matt Morrison wrote:I had a shocking round recently, and couldn't see anything apart from COPIES. I hadn't seen it in terms of "copies of a document" though, I was declaring it as the plural of COPY (pronounced koh-pee), thinking a copy was some sort of animal or something.
Haha, no, I wish it was that sensible. I've never heard of a COYPUS before as far as I know, and I was literally hoping it would mean something, the animal thing was pure optimistic speculation.Liam Tiernan wrote:Was this http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/COYPUS what you were thinking of?Matt Morrison wrote:I had a shocking round recently, and couldn't see anything apart from COPIES. This is mine. Came up in a hyperunlimited duel and only meself, Paul Howe and Raccoon got it. I remember seeing APPARA- thinking that seems like a plausible prefix before thinking "Nope the rest of the letters don't make any sense I'll just pop them in in a semi-random order!"JackHurst wrote:My first and only ever successful guess at a hyper conundrum/

I had no idea that the big multiplication would be any good at all.
When I used to play bullet numbers all the time, I often took massive guesses that put me in the right place. I might have a look for some good ones.Ian Volante wrote:Best winged numbers game evah:
