Spoilers For Bank Holiday Monday April 5th 2010

So, the new week has begun with a bank holiday, but Countdown has survived the bank holiday cull and is to be shown at 3:25pm as normal.

We have Apterite Peter Zyss, probably last in the list of contestants if you put them in alphabetical order, in the champion's chair, following his very close win over Barry Watson on Friday. Can he make it 2 out of 2 today :?:

In DC this week is another newbie, the newsreader turned presenter of the FIVE remake of Going For Gold, John Suchet, brother of course, of David Suchet, better known for his work as Hercule Poirot (probably better said in a Belgian-French accent).

Join Kai for the recap later.

That was very mean of you James. I've already made the thread. And it's not 2009.

Seemed like 5 seconds of working out time were lost in round 6 there :!:

Stupidly Long Way Round For Round 10:

(((75 + 4) x 9) + 3) / 2 = 357

Quite proud with that long way round. 8-) :geek:

Phffff, first time since James Doohan's 4 conundrums in a row that there's been more than 1 conundrum on a show. 8-)

Well done, Peter. :)

Nice to see Rachel get a conundrum too. :D

Interesting that during Round 6 (watching on 4oD anyway) the letters stopped being displayed on the screen as the camera showed the entire studio working. Not seen this happen before.

Do you like James more than me Kirk? I'm hurt.

It was on the TV broadcast as well (as you'd expect), and surely an editing mistake. The eagle-eyed could still see the letters next to Rachel, of course, but not ideal for those who just look at the screen for the duration; personally, I always write the letters down and didn't even notice it!

I watch it online but not full screen and sometimes cover the background moving pictures up with a pad of paper. That way all I have is a static row of letters with no moving images behind to distract me. This helps when you go on the show as you just get to stare at these letters for 30 seconds with nothing moving in your line of vision.
