Spoilers For Wednesday March 31st 2010

Post by James Robinson »

Well, I almost thought there might not have been a chance of another octochamp this series, but today could be that day, as Dave Wilkinson tries to reach the promised land of Octochampdom.

Although, as Gevin pointed out in Monday's spoilers, he could also break the record for the lowest octochamp total in 15-round Countdown history. To avoid this, he needs to score 92 or more today, which might be a hard task, considering his highest score is only 88 :!:

Interestingly, if he scores less than 111, he'll also have fewer points than our own Craig Chittenden, who Dave overtook to become #2 seed yesterday.

Well, can Dave do it, or will we have our first 7-time winner since Jeff & Rachel took over :?: Who knows :?:

Oh, and watch out for my recap later on, as there's a nice surprise lined up for all you lucky readers. :D

I'd love him to become an octochamp. Come on Dave my son.

HOSPODAR also in round 3.
ILVAITE in round 4 as a beater.
ATOMIST, round 12.

And yes, it would be nice to see another octochamp.

Easier 2nd numbers : (50+5) x (10+5) = 775
Cracking contest so far.

Unlucky Dave, but what a nice way to finish...challenger very apologetic and Dave just pleased to be there. Lovely.

Oh no - he lost! An octochamp averaging under 80 is surely something we will see in our lifetimes though.

I didn't actually watch today, but it's funny in a way that the person who beat him was called Barry, given that the last person I remember holding out this hope for was also called Barry.

No, but if I do, you're paying bail.

RHAPSODE in round 3, COGNISED in round 6 and STOMPIER in round 13.

1st Numbers Alt: ((100 - (3 x 10)) x 6) + 6 = 426

So, we still wait for another octochamp. Let's hope that the lowest octochamp record won't be broken :!: (The current 15-round record is 3, in Series 49.)

That's 3/8 points per game. I didn't realise - I doubt that ever will be beaten!

Loved the challenger. I guess most of us none series champs are starting to get envious of Oli as it looks like he is set to walk the series (with his legs tied behind his back). Who knows what the rest of the series might throw our way though?

I heard Scott Gillies might get in on this series, if so there should be a fight on for the title. Not to mention Craig is making strides on Apterous. Should be good man.

I think I have a winning record against him. I presume he's improved a lot?
