James will be here with the stats shortly, but first:

The cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up.
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
Troubled his animal blood.
Minnaloushe runs in the grass
Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
When two close kindred meet,
What better than call a dance?
Maybe the moon may learn,
Tired of that courtly fashion,
A new dance turn.
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
From moonlit place to place,
The sacred moon overhead
Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
His changing eyes.

You're right.

When my arms wrap you round I press
My heart upon the loveliness
That has long faded from the world;
The jewelled crowns that kings have hurled
In shadowy pools, when armies fled;
The love-tales wrought with silken thread
By dreaming ladies upon cloth
That has made fat the murderous moth;
The roses that of old time were
Woven by ladies in their hair,
The dew-cold lilies ladies bore
Through many a sacred corridor
Where such grey clouds of incense rose
That only God's eyes did not close:
For that pale breast and lingering hand
Come from a more dream-heavy land,
A more dream-heavy hour than this;
And when you sigh from kiss to kiss
I hear white Beauty sighing, too,
For hours when all must fade like dew,
But flame on flame, and deep on deep,
Throne over throne where in half sleep,
Their swords upon their iron knees,
Brood her high lonely mysteries.

There aren't really too many stats that I can think of for today's show.

Let's just see if Heather can win another for the girls, since the series score so far is pretty much one-sided in the gender category.

Boys: 26, Girls: 3

Although there have been far more male than female contestants.

True, but if a female won a few games, or even became an octochamp, that wouldn't necessarily matter.

What makes you think she's playing a bloke today?

Nowhere, it's perfectly obvious from your post that you think she's playing another female. My mistake, i must concentrate.

Not two Is, so sorry. As for the first numbers, Matt, it seemed like there was a cut in recording so I'm not sure what went on in the studio but it did seem odd with Rachel saying "what have you written down" and then her nailing it.

If anyone wants me, I'll be in that darkened room over there.

Good contest again and a great pressured conundrum to secure your place as champion. Well done.

Credit also to Susie I feel, as a few times recently she was about to say American spellings and stopped herself and said American words, which are of course valid. DAYCARE was today's example.

Harsh words indeed. She was just nervous and started to read out her first incorrect attempt from her paper instead of reading the correct solution. Certainly didn't cheat.

I dread to think what people would say if you'd left in my repeated attempts to spell CROTALE...

I would imagine the floor manager/a producer/someone else would have checked what was written "off-air"; hence the cut. Correct me if I'm wrong there, of course.

The 'cut' was for about 3 seconds, because Irene stopped, thinking she'd blown it and had been disqualified from the round. She'd written two lots of workings out. The first was not close enough to the target, the second was the target, 340. All she did was start to read out the wrong one when Jeff asked her. No biggy really. The very second Rachel asked her what she had written down, she rattled off the correct solution. Nerves play a part sometimes, that's all.

Wasn't really suggesting she was cheating. Not seriously.

Well, statistics are just statistics. They don't decide what James Robinson considers to matter. :?
