Spoilers For Wednesday January 13th 2010

by James Robinson
Well, we're midway through the first Countdown week of 2010.

Jan put up a very commendable effort yesterday, but Aptoforumite Oliver Garner managed to squeeze out a victory thanks to his 0.1s conundrum solve, leaving Jan with a record of 5 wins and 500 points, a nice benchmark for the start of this series, when you consider that Jacqui got to the finals in the last series with just 10 more points.

Can Oliver continue his run today against his opponent?

I'll let you know when the Robinson Recap returns later today.

Lol!

Would have went for windfrost^ or frostwind^ myself but then I am fairly shit at conundrums.

Not a dig, Oliver! Well done again - bit more straightforward this time.

RUDDLES as an alternative to DODDLES
Alternative third numbers: 25x75/3-100/50

Nice work, Oliver. You looked much more relaxed and I'm hoping today's trouncing will relax you even further for your next game.

ALternative 3rd numbers, doing the simple 625-2 thing:

100 x 6, +25 = 625
50 x 3 = 150, /75 = 2
625 - 2 = 623

Thanks to the snowdrifts here, I've had the chance to watch a game go out "live" for the first time in ages. Having lost to Oliver today, though, I might leave it a while before watching live again. Well played.

Or even (75-50)x25 then subtracting 6/3.

Nice to see you back, Sue! :D :D

Ollie certainly had an easy opponent to ease him into the champion's chair.

Amazingly weird answer to round 5 numbers, but Troy did get the target.
I did 110x7 etc. method (IIRC that was Ollie's way?)
When Troy started 100x8, I thought, ah yes, he'll do 4x7 and subtract, but no.

On to tomorrow's game! :)

Alternative to 2nd Numbers:

10 + 8 = 18, 10 + 9 = 19, 18 x 19 = 342, 342 - 1 = 341

OPANCI in round 6. Only know that after failing with CAPUCCINO on a Goatdown before.

I used to get trouble with the Klingons til I changed my loo paper.
Btw, wouldn't it be cool if James Doohan posts next.

I was surprised no-one in the audience got it at all. I got it, but then I'm sure it's been on before (ages ago maybe) and for some reason it came to me.

If this is freakishly topical, then what's Keith's guess of EPICENTRE 5 days later?
